Hans Theessink & Terry Evans : DELTA TIME

Delta Time is a feast for fans of blues and roots music. Recorded in Los Angeles, like the prize-winning predecessor album, Visions, this second joint project of Hans Theessink and Terry Evans is a naked and intimate, bare-to-the-bone recording, that leaves a lot of space for their expressive voices and instruments. Theessink’s lazy baritone and Evans’ extraordinarily soulful gospel tones are tailor made to blend together with spine-tingling results. They may be from separate sides of the Atlantic Ocean but they work together beautifully and make sense as a natural combination. Timeless blues, gospel and soul related music come alive in the capable hands of these two masters. Delta Time is one of the rare recordings, where the musical and tonal quality are one.

In the studio, Hans and Terry combined Hans original songs with soul and blues classics and in just a few days they delivered an album full of emotional depth. The chemistry between Hans and Terry is palpable in every note. Their love of music and their ability to combine their ample talents again makes Delta Time a masterpiece.

Guests include the great Ry Cooder who contributes his phenomenal guitar sound on three tracks, and singers Willie Green Jr. and Arnold McCuller who add gospel and bluesy background vocals. The quality of the teamwork between the duo and the guest musicians is epic. Delta Time takes the depth of the soul and wrings it out with a groove and melody that you can’t help but respond to.

Cee Cee James : BLOOD RED BLUES

Cee Cee James continues to bring her trademark lyrical and vocal talents expressed in crossover stylings of deep contemporary roots/blues in 12 original songs that fans will eat alive. Blood Red Blues, produced by Legendary Grammy Winning Jim Gaines, is Cee Cee's third and most exciting CD to date. Cee Cee jumps up several notches as Jim brings out the best, pushing Cee Cee to hold nothing back as she rises and meets the challenge with ease. Blood Red Blues continues the strong momentum generated from her last two releases, Low Down Where The Snakes Crawl and Seriously Raw. Both CD's generated stellar reviews in the U.S. and Europe, and held top chart positions at Cashbox, the Roots Report and at XM/Sirius BB King Bluesville.

Blood Red Blues is no exception having made the Billboard Top 15 Blues Charts, Sirius XM -74-Bluesville #3 in the top 15 and rose to the #8 in the Living Blues magazine radio charts.

"Cee Cee James gets about 40 seconds into the opening title cut when her stylistic likeness to Janis Joplin becomes downright chilling. James' voice is fuller and less-ravaged, and if the resemblance is uncanny it's almost entirely free of affectation, sounding less like an imitation than a fortunate coincidence...." says Vintage Guitar magazine

JOHN NEMETH TO HEADLINE DOWNTOWN BLUES CONCERT IN GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA OCTOBER 13

John Németh, who will headline the Gainesville Downtown Blues Concert on Saturday, October 13th at the Bo Diddley Community Plaza. Opening acts will be the Terraplane Blues Band and the R. Mutt Blues Band. Admission to the show is free.

Németh has been building a career impressing fans and stars of the Blues alike with his soulful singing and the ability to work a stage and entertain crowds like few in the business.

"I remember telling friends in '80 that they should go see Stevie Ray Vaughan, but they weren't impressed because he wasn't famous yet, “Former Muddy Waters bandmate Bob Margolin said. “It will give me great pleasure to say, 'I told you so!' about John Németh. You'll see."

Németh pays tribute to performers of the past by embodying their tradition and making it relevant to today’s audience, instead of slavishly copying them.

KING BISCUIT BLUES FESTIVAL HAS ANTICIPATED HEADLINERS

Arkansas Times -   OK blues-lovers, here it is: King Biscuit [starts 11 am in downtown Helena, AR). One of the best blues festivals anywhere draws nigh with what I think is fair to say are some of the most anticipated headliners in the festival's history: Bobby Rush on Thursday, Taj Mahal Friday and Bonnie Raitt on Saturday.

Of course, in addition to these great acts, you get the whole experience: walking around Helena, turkey leg in one hand and beer in the other, catching any one of a number of great up-and-coming acts and just generally letting the good times roll.

This year, KBBF has coordinated with festivals on the other side of the river for several days' worth of blues-related goings-on.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation has announced its list of nominees for 2013 induction which include The Paul Butterfield Blues Band and Albert King.

PLANS TO BUILD TO OFFICIAL R&B MUSIC HALL OF FAME MUSEUM

Cleveland, Ohio -- Robinson Global Sports & Entertainment Group LLC, today has announced it plans to develop the Official R&B Music Hall of Fame Museum that will be a state-of-the-art, highly interactive, virtual reality experience for individuals of all ages and cultures. It will memorialize rhythm artists, promoters and others that have contributed to this music genre. Its educational and preservation values alone are needed and have been welcomed and endorsed by many U.S. cities: Cleveland, Ohio Mayor Frank G. Jackson; East Cleveland, Ohio Mayor Gary Norton; Detroit, Michigan's Detroit Entertainment Commission and the Motown Alumni Association; Atlanta, Georgia's Film/Music & Digital Entertainment Office, as well as a Memphis, Tennessee Organization.

This museum is long overdue. There have been many attempts to establish a Rhythm & Rlues Hall of Fame of this magnitude, but none have come to fruition. The Official R&B Music Hall of Fame Museum (OR&BMHFM) will exemplify to the world the essence of rhythm & blues music and its components. The OR&BMHFM's Inaugural Induction Ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 5, 2013 in Cleveland, Ohio at Cleveland's Music Hall/Public Auditorium, the same venue used for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremonies.

The class of the 2013 induction includes James Brown, The Temptations, The Hesitations, Otis Redding, The O'Jays, Dick Clark, Gerald Levert, Aretha Franklin, Alan Freed, and The Dramatics, to name a few of the 20 inductees. The Reverend Al Sharpton will receive the Ron Banks Humanitarian Award for his life-long support to many rhythm & blues and gospel artists.

Support for the museum has been received from many music artists and affiliates including the Impressions, the Chi-Lites, the family of James Brown and the families of many other deceased rhythm & blues artists. Fundraisers for the museum will include the Induction Ceremonies and a brick campaign drive to sell 10,000 bricks on which rhythm & blues artists' names will appear.

The OR&BMHFM will also memorialize and preserve the legacy and contributions of Gospel, Hip Hop music, as well as the contributions of preachers, through its Gospel Music & Preachers Hall of Fame Museum and the Hip Hop Museum of America. The African-American Music Research Center will also be an integral component of the OR&BMHFM.

Groundbreaking is being planned for the summer of 2013. A mobile exhibit currently tours the country. More information regarding the OR&BMHFM can be found by clicking here.
