Greetings from your Editor...
Well, I haven't had a dog in years and the cat gets pretty annoyed when I try to put him on a leash (LOL!), but no matter, a celebration is in order Feb 22, as it's "Walking The Dog Day." Right about now I bet most of you are singing to yourselves, "if you don't know how to do it, I'll show you how to walk the dog," or at least bobbing in your chair to that classic Rufus Thomas song.
Johnny Winter's birthday is this week. He recorded a song called "Mad Dog ("I'm foaming at the mouth baby can't you see") ... now maybe "just a, just a, just a" nice little walk might have helped.
Birthdays of Note: Feb 20 Jimmy "Papa" Yancey (1898), Feb 21 Francis "Scrapper" Blackwell (1903), Nina Simone (1933), "Ernie K-Doe" Kador (1936) Feb 23 Johnny Winter (1944) Feb 24 Freddie Robinson (1939), Willie Kent (1936), George Thorogood (1950) Feb 25 Ida Cox (1896), Andrew Brown (1937) Feb 26 Antoine "Fats" Domino (1928), Bob "Bear" Hite (1945).
Your ever-grateful editor,

Sunday Wilde :: HE DIGS ME
He Digs Me is the new album from Sunday Wilde. This sweet and scrumptious selection of 13 tunes from Sunday redefines her style bringing in drums and some electricity into her growling and succinct passionate delivery of mostly originals. “The most fascinating singer and songwriter in the blues today” says N. Norgel, Wasser Prawda (GR).
This selection of songs range from Sunday’s unique originals about men, love, poverty and her growling soft vocal delivery to some very interesting takes on old classics like Patsy Cline’s "I fall to Pieces," and Bessie Smith’s "Black Mountain Blues." He Digs Me is available now at most digital retailers like: iTunes, Amazon, CDBaby.
Sunday’s music has played worldwide on roots and blues stations and has hit 1 on BB King’s Bluesville on SiriusXM Radio and #1 on Amazon Best Sellers List. Kim Simmonds & Savoy Brown :: GOIN' TO THE DELTA
Pack a bag. Buckle up. Hit the gas. Goin’ To The Delta invites you to ride shotgun with Kim Simmonds on a musical road trip through his spiritual homeland. “When I started the band back in 1965,” says Savoy Brown’s iconic frontman and guitarist, “The concept was to be a British version of a Chicago blues band. Now, here we are in 2014, and once again, the music on this recording echoes the blues sounds of Chicago.” Released in February 2014 on Ruf Records, Goin’ To The Delta is the sound of a band with the wind in their sails.

Robert Johnson's son wins custody of photos, profits
JACKSON – The Mississippi Supreme Court says Claud Johnson (lt) can keep profits from the only two known photographs of his father, Delta bluesman Robert Johnson.
The case turned on a technicality. The court ruled Thursday that other family members knew as early as 1990 about the photos and royalty payments. A court declared Claud Johnson the musician’s sole heir in 1998. Under Mississippi’s statute of limitation, the state Supreme Court ruled a legal challenge should have been filed no later than 1994. A lawsuit by other family members over the photos was filed in 2000. The court rejected arguments that the clock started when Claud Johnson was named sole heir.
Robert Johnson was destitute when he died in 1938 at age 27. A collection of his recordings won a Grammy in 1990.
