Dana Fuchs :: SONGS FROM THE ROAD
|
|
The road has led Dana Fuchs everywhere. But when it came to choosing a location for her version of Ruf Records’ highly anticipated live double CD/DVD set, Songs From The Road, it had to be New York. The singer and the city have history. Almost two decades have passed since Dana left her home in rural Florida and beat a path to the Big Apple. Stepping onto the mean streets of the Lower East Side at age 19, she was an unknown singer with a voice and a dream, ready to slug it out on the city’s jam-circuit.
Since then, New York has been the backdrop to Dana’s well-documented rise.

Davina & The Vagabonds :: SUNSHINE
|
Twin-Cities based Davina and the Vagabonds CD, Sunshine, on Roustabout Records, is distributed nationally by Burnside Distribution. Sunshine was produced by the band, recorded and mixed in December, 2013, at The Pearl Recording Studio in Minneapolis and mastered at Treelady Studios.
Recorded in exquisite analog sound and set for release on both CD and vinyl, Sunshine is a bold statement from a songwriter and band that draws from the last 100 years of American music and sounds truly original. Through the 11 songs (and one bonus track), many facets of the group are represented:

Bill Wharton has blended brilliance and darkness, true-life stories, and legends surrounding his outlaw mystique. This album mixes blues songs with gene-bending selections, however, it is 100% Pure Sauce Boss! Mostly recorded in the one-man-band format, 100% Pure grooves hard and deep, with a large sound. Plenty of bottom, with a voice begging for mercy, and a slide guitar that crawls out of the swap like a twelve foot gator.
100% Pure is the latest opus from the Sauce Boss. A gumbo slingin, slide playin, drum kickin, high hat stompin, low down, gut bucket blues singin, romp. Straight out of the true life adventures of "Sauce Boss" Bill Wharton.

Our very favorite tall gal blues piano player, Marcia Ball, is back with a great new album, The Tattooed Lady And The Alligator Man. She might be telling us about the sideshows, but she will always be in the center ring of our three-ring circus.
