Magic City Blues July 30-Aug 2 in Billings, Montana
|
BILLINGS, MT - Tim Goodridge thought he would find a music festival to run while he looked for a real job. That was 14 years ago and since then, Magic City Blues has brought more than 150 music acts to Billings and brought people from throughout North America to Billings for what has grown to be a four-day festival with three venues.
Goodridge announced on Tuesday that Buddy Guy, John Fogerty and Lucinda Williams will headline this year's festival on a new weekend, July 30 through Aug. 2.
Tim and his wife, Pam, had just moved back to Montana after spending a few years living and working in Vancouver, British Columbia, when they came up with the idea of bringing more music to Billings. More details about the Magic City Blues fest

2015 Mississippi Valley Blues Festival Cancelled Due to Financial Challenges
|
DAVENPORT, IA - For the first time in 30 years, the Mississippi Valley Blues Society will not hold a Blues Festival this year.
Because of financial challenges, the MVBS announced Wednesday that the annual fest, planned for Sept. 5-6 in Davenport's LeClaire Park, has been canceled.
“We are not able to proceed with a major event this year, so we will instead concentrate on continuing our existing programs, look to build funding and possibly hold a festival in 2016," MVBS President Steve Heston said Wednesday in a news release.
"We are saddened to have to make this decision; however, if we take this opportunity to regroup and are able to gain some financial support, we can come back next year with some world-class musicians playing the blues," he said. Read more here

John Mayall: A Portrait of the living Blues
|
PORTLAND, OR - Most often credited with the wider revelation of Eric Clapton, John Mayall’s impact on rock and roll is inestimable. A prolific singer, instrumentalist and bandleader, Mayall would team with Clapton to record 1966’s Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, a landmark album of standards and Mayall originals that would propel Clapton and his searing blues-rock stylism to stardom in England and abroad. Departing soon thereafter to form Cream with bassist and Bluesbreakers alumnus Jack Bruce, Clapton’s position – and others – would be filled by a remarkable succession of burgeoning talent, including guitarist Mick Taylor, who would later join the Rolling Stones, and the original Fleetwood Mac lineup of guitarist Peter Green, bassist John McVie, and drummer Mick Fleetwood.
