Jimmy Rogers and Pinetop Perkins w-Little Mike & The Tornadoes :: GENUINE BLUES LEGENDS
|
|
Jimmy Rogers and Pinetop Perkins had a special and magical sound onstage together—a sound that would have been lost in time if it were not for Little Mike. This remarkable album captures that moment and the wonderful Chicago blues sounds that the two blues legends were able to seamlessly weave together on stage.
This live recording comes to you raw and unscripted but with a remarkable clarity that belies its age and dated recording equipment. The first four cuts on the recording find Pinetop leading the band with lively and sharp piano playing characteristic of his earlier years in Chicago. Jimmy Rogers, taking the lead for the cuts five through seven showcases some of his greatest hits and some exceptional lead guitar throughout.

Florida based artist Wendy Rich collaborated with Grammy Award winning musician and producer Kevin McKendree (Brian Setzer, Delbert McClinton, John Oates) in Nashville, TN to create Driver, a solid album of soulful material.
Real music and real musicians make this record of original retro, soulful, bluesy tunes with a touch of Americana country a must. Driver features Delbert McClinton's stellar band Dick50 backing up long time Texas soul/blues singer /songwriter Wendy Rich. Wendy penned many of the tracks.... such as the title track “Driver,” “Tides Of Change” and “Repossession,” as well as co-writing with Kevin and ACM (Academy of Country Music) 2014 Guitar Player Of The Year Rob McNelley (Bob Seger) and Sean Corbett on the rollicking and lyric heavy "Leavin' Tullahoma."

Students Learn Blues from B.B. King’s Daughter
|
CHICAGO, IL - Shirley King, the daughter of Blues great B.B. King, performed at Brown Elementary on Chicago’s west side March 21 as part of a lesson about the Great Migration. That’s when millions of blacks moved from the rural south to the north, bringing cultural traditions, like Blues music, with them.
“In Chicago, we do a lot of what’s called traditional Blues,” Shirley King told a gymnasium full of middle schoolers.
King has lived in Chicago since 1967 and says she worries about kids losing access to arts programming in schools.
“My heart hurts knowing our kids are getting everything snatched out of the schools,” King said, alluding to the last several rounds of budget cuts at Chicago Public Schools.
