Green Blessings to You All ...

It’s May! It’s May! The bloomin’ month of May!
The fairies come out to play today! Get ready to play with them. Dance and sing. Eat delicious things. (And leave some for the fairies.) Bask in the sun. Hold your face up to the rain. Lean into the wind. Let the surf curl around your ankles. Ready? Set? Go!
If you have a garden, set aside a small area for the fairies. No Humans Allowed! Fairies love chaos and change. Let the weeds grow. Fairies dislike rows and order. Cultivate an appreciation of wildness and spontaneity. Fairies love shiny, glittery things. Grow pretty flowers. Fairies are friends with butterflies and hummingbirds. Favor plants that winged things like. Fairies like to play jokes. Be willing to laugh at yourself.
If you don’t have a garden, find a wild place near you. Sometimes a vacant lot is the nearest wild place. Yes, fairies live in cities too; they are just harder to see. Walk past your wild place at least twice a day or sit there for a while if you can. Become attuned to the rhythm of the plants in your fairy haven. Become aware of the movement of the light in your fairy area.
Let the fairies bring joy to your heart. Let the fairies fill you with foolish hope and starry-eyed love. Let the fairies entice you to commit more acts of beauty and joy.
It’s May! It’s May!
May begins with Mother’s Day. We will be celebrating Mother Earth, and all our mothers, with our Mother’s Day work-exchange weekend. Who knows what surprises are in store. Nettle soup? Wild salad?
May ends with Memorial Day. We are on schedule to have the barn done and new goats here by Memorial Day. We may even have the roof for the tower under construction or nearing completion. Please join us in welcoming the new herd by attending any part of the Memorial Day work-exchange weekend. Remember, you don’t have to work. You can just go for a walk or a swim, relax with the goats, and enjoy lunch with us.
Speaking of lunch, why not try some Flower Fritters the next time you have some time to fritter away.
Green blessings are blooming everywhere. Susun

Frolicking With the Fairies by Susun S Weed
My friend Elsa always talked to plants. I thought she was crazy. Safely insane, but definitely disassociated from reality. Until the plants laughed at me.
Autumn of 1980, returning home from a rare dinner out after a healing intensive at my land in the Catskills, I stopped to get my mail. An unusual envelope contained a $500 money order, signed "Mother Nature," and this note: "It's my birthday and I could think of no better gift than giving you the means to build a shelter for your teaching."
