Blistering fretwork, soulful vocals and sterling songcraft: with Blue Skies, his debut release, Matty T Wall pays homage to the masters of the blues while carving his own distinctive signature into the walls of this rich musical legacy.
From Perth, Australia, Matty originally discovered his chosen genre while exploring the roots of rock. As a disciple of musical history, his artistry traces tributaries of his influences back to their sources – from Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix – while delivering a fervent, modern take on a deeply traditional form. A ferocious band ignites a slate of songs that retain a rough and ready live quality with a potent rhythm section and swirling keyboards framing Matty’s signature guitar and confessional voice.

'Lil Buck, Billington and Rangell win Harpo Awards
|
(BATON ROUGE, LA) - Paul “Lil Buck” Sinegal has countless highlights from his 52 years in music.
Nicknamed “The Master of the Stratocaster,” Sinegal added guitar to zydeco king Clifton Chenier’s Bogalusa Boogie, a 1976 album that now sits in the Grammy Hall of Fame and Library of Congress National Recording Registry.
The Lafayette guitarist played on Paul Simon’s landmark Graceland album of 1986, which sold 16 million copies worldwide.
Sinegal is proud of those accomplishments, but there’s a special ring in his voice when he talks about his own band, Lil Buck and the Top Cats. The 17-piece soul and funk outfit could have given James Brown a run for his money.
“When I had my band in the ‘60s, we played almost every prom in Louisiana,” said Sinegal. “We could play some music.

11th Annual North Mississippi Hill Country Blues Picnic June 23–25, 2016
|
(HWY 17 / WATERFORD, MS) - The North Mississippi Hill Country Picnic [held June 23-25, 2016 in Waterford, MS] is a rare breed among festivals in that it aims to exclusively book artists that have a connection to the delta, hill country blues scene. You won’t find the next Gary Clark Jr. or Black Keys here, but you will find genuine North Mississippi blues.
“All acts have a direct contact to hill country blues,” said Sara Brown, who runs the festival alongside her husband Kenny Brown.
Thursday is set aside from getting your camp site set up and enjoying the guitar and harmonica workshops featuring accomplished musicians such as Garry Burnside, Eric Deaton, Watermelon Slim, and Adam Gussow.
