Jeff Chaz :: SOUNDS LIKE THE BLUES TO ME
Sounds Like The Blues To Me is Jeff Chaz's first album of all-new material since his post-Hurricane Katrina release In Exile in 2006. Originally from Creole, Louisiana, his travels eventually brought him to the Home of the Blues, Memphis, Tennessee, where the favorite music of his formative years began. His incendiary live performances continue to be seen by thousands upon thousands of music-loving visitors to New Orleans each year... people from all over the world who make pilgrimages to the Crescent City in search of the blues. In the course of his long career, Jeff Chaz has performed with such legendary blues artists as Albert King, Little Milton, Ruth Brown and many others. Jeff's unique style of blues incorporates the style of Memphis combined with the mixture of New Orleans rhythms. "It is Memphis barbecue meeting up with New Orleans gumbo," quips Chaz. ... Mark Cameron :: PLAYIN’ ROUGH
Playing Rough features a range of Blues from front porch slide to funky up tempo blues. A tour de force for harp lovers and additional flute tracks add a twist to the fourth album by vocalist/songwriter Mark Cameron. The fourth Album from Minneapolis-based blues man Mark Cameron is rough-around-the-edges blues the way it was meant to be. From the boogie based opener "Doctor In the House" to the haunting closing cut "Borrowed Time" this album delivers on its promise to play it rough. The searing harp of Bill "Killer" Keyes and the haunting flute of Sheri Cameron add a rare flavor that is a perfect complement to Cameron's brutally honest vocal style.

This Saturday, July 30 The Dirty Dozen Brass Band at Uptown Theatre Napa
(Napa, CA) – The Dirty Dozen Brass Band will be appearing Saturday July 30th at the historic Uptown Theatre in Napa, CA. In 1977, The Dirty Dozen Social and Pleasure Club in New Orleans began showcasing a traditional Crescent City brass band. It was a joining of two proud, but antiquated, traditions at the time: social and pleasure clubs dated back over a century to a time when black southerners could rarely afford life insurance, and the clubs would provide proper funeral arrangements. Brass bands, early predecessors of jazz as we know it, would often follow the funeral procession playing somber dirges, then once the family of the deceased was out of earshot, burst into jubilant dance tunes as casual onlookers danced in the streets. By the late ’70s, few of either existed. ...Find out more details about this event

The Heritage Music Blues Festival features a Weekend of Award-Winning Blues
(Wheeling, WV) - The Heritage Music Blues Festival will be held August 12-14 at the Heritage Port Amphitheatre (1201 Water St.) in Wheeling, West Virginia.
The Heritage Music Blues Festival began in 2001 when Bruce Wheelerm envisioned a Blues music festival in a newly constructed water front park on the bank of the Ohio River in downtown Wheeling. The fact that Wheeling had no blues scene or even a blues club, band or solo artist did not deter Wheeler from developing a festival. Promoted as A Weekend of Award-Winning Blues, the Festival today gets raves from coast to coast. Wheeler's festival features two stages, a Main Stage with Blues Music Award Winners and up and coming IBC solo duo and band winning acts, and a Second Stage dedicated to local and regional artists, from WV, OH, PA, and MD.
