Chris Beard :: EYE OF THE WITCH
On Eye of The Witch, blues great Chris Beard digs all through the blues – from the early days down in the Delta, to its modern-day step-children in popular music. The CD features a mix of funky blues and blues rock and a touch of traditional blues, all coming from the true blues that Chris was born with. “Incredible blues vocals… insanely lively guitar… it’s amazing!” Frank Deblase/City Entertainment Magazine
The CD was recorded live-in-the-studio in Rochester, NY with a stellar group of musicians: Americana-rock guitar hero Carlton Campbell (drummer for the world renowned Campbell Brothers), Brother Wilson (rhythm guitar Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes), Marvin Parker on bass, Steve McNally on organ, and multi-faceted horn player Quentin Lawrence. All arrangements were done by Chris Beard and Carlton Campbell.

Kaplan, No Depression & Twangrila Blueberries & Grits is the sixth release from award-winning blues and roots artist, Sunday wilde from Northern Ontario. This album was recorded in Memphis and Clarksdale, produced by two-time Grammy nominee Gary Vincent, and is the result of two major trips from Northern Ontario to the Delta. Robert Finley :: AGE DON’T MEAN A THING
September 30 will see the emergence of a major new soul music voice with Robert Finley’s debut album Age Don’t Mean a Thing on Big Legal Mess Records, a Fat Possum imprint. Already, the New York Times has called the 62 year old north Louisianan singer “more than convincing… venerable but vigorous.” NPR Music reviewed a performance of the Music Maker Blues Revue featuring Finley, calling it “exciting… amazing… great stuff.” He has performed at NYC’s prestigious GlobalFest and at the King Biscuit Festival, at which he will appear again this year.
Produced by Bruce Watson and Jimbo Mathus, the album traverses the classic Booker T & The MGs-esque Memphis groove of “I Just Want To Tell You,” the tough soul-blues of the title track, “Snake In My Grass,” and “Is It Possible To Love 2 People,”...

Blues Birthday Heroes: Singer Carolyn Gaines Honors Roy Gaines, Buddy Guy, Junior Kimbrough, Blind Boy Fuller
What do Buddy Guy, Roy Gaines, Blind Boy Fuller, Junior Kimbrough and Carolyn Gaines have in common? Other than all five being blues artists, their birthdays have recently been celebrated. While the first four musicians are all well-known blues legends, Carolyn Gaines (Roy Gaines’ daughter) is an up-and-coming blues singer who has already made major contributions to the blues as a teacher keeping Buddy Guy, Leadbelly, Shemekia Copeland, T-Bone Walker, Big Mama Thornton, Bobby Blue Bland, Joe Scott, Johnny Lang, Guitar Shorty, her uncle Grady Gaines, B.B. King, and Roy Gaines’ names alive behind the scenes. She has also been inspired by the four veterans and performs her own fresh interpretations of some of their songs. Buddy Guy, who ranks as the most famous living blues artist, celebrated his 80th birthday this July 30.
