THE AGGROLITES PLAY TONIGHT! AT THE EL REY THEATRE IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA
Source: Paul Rogers LAWeekly.com
Despite looking like they're about to shake you down behind a 7-Eleven, L.A.'s hard-touring Aggrolites are in fact acolytes of the good-vibes, offbeat-obsessed reggae/rocksteady of 1960s Jamaica (indeed, they formed in 2002 as the backing band for first-wave Jamaican reggae icon Derrick Morgan).

Not to be confused with the lo-cal SoCal ska of, say, Sublime or Save Ferris, the Aggrolites use bowel-loosening, burbling bass; optimistic organ; compact, rimshot-punctuated beats; and Jesse Wagner's warm, brotherly lurve vocals to create something that's earthy and earnest yet utterly danceable. Over the course of three albums to date (newie IV arrives on June 9), they've gradually focused more on actual songs without compromising the embracing aura of their earlier, more improvised recordings. Laid-back but laced with grainy street-smarts, the Aggrolites — like all great bands — transcend mere beats, notes and lust for attention to imply some grandiose message in their music. I'm buggered if I know what it is, mind you, but the band call it "dirty reggae" — and I'll run with that.

SUMFEST PROMOTERS CLAIM AWARD AS COUNTDOWN TO FESTIVAL BEGINS
"This is evidence that we're doing something right with Reggae Sumfest" Johnny Gourzong, executive director of Summerfest Promotions said after collecting the award last Sunday in New York. Gourzong, who collected the same award in 2008, in addition to the award for Concert of the Year, says the trophy serves as extra motivation to provide entertainment value like Jamaica has never seen. "I'm excited about this award, and after this year's Sumfest, we will prove for the 17th consecutive year, that we are The greatest reggae show on earth," Gourzong commented.

The Summerfest Production team is keeping secret the international acts they are in talks with for the Festival - which begins on July 19 with a beach party and continues with three days of magnificent live performances beginning on Thursday, July 23 and ending on Saturday, July 25 - but say that they are pleased with the direction the line-up is taking."We are pleased with how the line-up is coming together, and we promise this year's Sumfest will be one to remember".

With dancehall acts
Beenie Man, Bounty Killer, Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Busy Signal (shown in photo), Elephant Man already confirmed for the show, along with reggae stars Tarrus Riley, Etana, Coco Tea, and Morgan Heritage, the show's line-up is truly shaping up to be an entertainment explosion.

Summerfest Productions will take over Montego Bay from July 19-25 for the 17th staging of the greatest reggae show on earth, Reggae Sumfest... so get ready to be infected by Reggae Sumfest fever.

MOONLIGHT DUB XPERIMENT : : BioDub
MOONLIGHT DUB XPERIMENT  BIODUB - and  BLACK STAR LINE

MOONLIGHT Dub Xperiment is an incantation of costa rican cosmic reggae that mixes the primitive roots of the ethnic instruments, with the futuristic element of the new technology, all under the reggae dub instrumental concept.

The concept of the BIODUB its also a compromise with the earth giving an ecological message of natural and cultural conservation.

This is our first album BIODUB with 13 professional high-quality themes of ecological reggae and electroetnic experiments with a costa rican flavor. This album has the particularity that inside the cd the people will find an envelope with seeds of trees, to contribute with the conservation and reforestation of the planet. This album is a winner of ACAM 2008 Awards in Dub Music.

Now this album is in a Mad Professor remixing, ready to launch at june 2009

In february they launched its single Black Star Line, a theme that rescues the cultural values of Limon town at the beginning of the 20th century. This song had with highly rotation in many radio and tv stations, supported with professional video that includes films of the documentary The Promise Ship.

1915: California passes anti-marijuana law.
----: Shigaki Tohru [Ska Flames; guitar] is born.
1969: Little Roy (Earl Lowe) recorded "Bongo Nyah" for Lloyd Daley, The Matador. It became his first hit and the biggest hit of Matador Prouctions. Besides it, The Creators' "Bad Name", Lloyd Charmers' "Zylon" and Lloyd Robinson's "Death A Come" ware recorded for Daley on this day. "Zylon" should have been the flip sie of "Death A Come" but it became the hit side. They can be heard on a compilation "Lloyd Daley's Matador Productions, 1968-1972" (Heartbeat HB 92).
1977: Bob Marley & The Wailers' Exodus tour 1977 Europe / Circus Krone, Munchen, Germany

AN ARTIST'S PRAYER
O Great Creator of All Life, Breath of our Breath
We gather Here in Your name
That we may be of service to You
And to our sisters and brothers
We offer ourselves to you as instruments
We open ourselves to your creativity in our lives
We surrender to you our old ideas
We welcome your new and more expansive thoughts
We trust that you will lead
We trust that it is safe to follow
We know you created us and that creativity
Is Your nature and our own
We ask you to unfold our lives
According to Your plan
Help us to believe that it is never too late
And we
can be healed and feel the connectedness with all things
Help us to love one another
To nurture each other’s unfolding
To encourage each other’s growth
To free ourselves from our fears
Help us to know that we are never alone
That we are made in Your Image and loved and lovable
Help us to create as an act of worship to You.

Amen
