Dennis Jones :: BOTH SIDES OF THE TRACK
|
|
Both Sides of The Tracks is Dennis Jones’ fifth album on Blue Rock Records. He wrote nineteen of the tracks for this album and then picked his favorites. He and his band have been playing some of the songs for a while, so “they transferred well in the studio,” says Jones. “A few songs kicked my ass, but I'm very happy with the results. I have a great new band and the support of musicians and friends that I've known and played with over the years.”
Dennis's feet are firmly rooted in the past, yet his heart and soul are connected to the present. He writes songs that seamlessly blend the best of both worlds, presenting a unique and contemporary style of American rock and blues. ...More details about this release here

Brian Langlinais :: RIGHT HAND ROAD
|
You could say Brian Langlinais’ new recording, Right Hand Road, was birthed by an ice storm, but that would be getting ahead of the story. Long before that weather event, the album’s roots ran from sea to sea along I-10, home to a slew of bars and nightclubs where bands earn gas money between major cities. For decades, these venues have fostered the uniquely American art form called roadhouse music: a big tent under which blues, country, zydeco, and even jazz come together—often in the same band. Roadhouse legends such as Delbert McClinton, Marcia Ball, Omar and the Howlers, Mason Ruffner, and Lee Roy Parnell all came through Langlinais’ hometown of Lafayette, Louisiana, where he cut his teeth in bands playing this crowd-pleasing music.

Buzz is building for Bradenton Blues Festival Dec 2-4
|
(Bradenton, FL) - A month before the fifth annual Bradenton Blues Festival, organizers welcomed some important players in the blues world. The International Blues Foundation hosted its annual board of director’s retreat in downtown Bradenton last week. The International Blues Foundation houses the Blues Hall of Fame in Memphis and is directed by a board of 23 individuals from Canada, Norway and across the U.S.
Thanks to the annual blues festival along the Manatee River, blues musicians such as Doug Deming relocating to the area, Blues Music Magazine headquartered within walking distance of downtown Bradenton, and blues venues like Ace’s Live and Blue Rooster, Bradenton has become a destination on the blues map. “To have the Blues Foundation host an annual board retreat in downtown Bradenton acknowledges that Bradenton has the blues, and is becoming a desired destination for businesses,”

Colorado Blues Society Blues Challenge had twist this year
|
The Colorado Blue Society (CBS) Congratulates The John Weeks Band and A.J. Fullerton as Winners of the 2016 Colorado Blues Challenge! They will represent CBS at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis in January 2017!
Kyle Deibler, CBS IBC Chairman explained a twist in this year's competition. John Weeks competed in both the band and the solo/duo competition and came out the victor in a rare double win in this Blues Challenge. Deibler explains, "Moses Walker & John Weeks were the winning solo/duo in Sunday's competition to go along with John's band victory, and by rule; John had to make the determination of which act he wanted to head to Memphis with for the IBC. Knowing John's decision in advance, I announced A.J. Fullerton as the champion in the solo/duo division and he will represent CBS proudly in Memphis. But in the moment, we failed to give Moses Walker & John Weeks their due, for their winning performance on Sunday, and as the contest coordinator, I deeply regret that we missed that opportunity. In retrospect I should have announced Moses & John as the rightful winners in the solo/duo category, explained the Blues Foundation competition rule and then announce that A.J. would be our representative for the 2017 International Blues Challenge."
Kyle and CBS wish to thank all of the fans and venues that supported the events this year.
