BB King’s Band on the Road Again…
|
The Thrill is Not Gone... We're Back! Keeping The Blues Alive… BB King’s Blues Band can’t stop playing the music that was born in the Mississippi Delta.
If you thought “The Thrill Is Gone” meet BB King’s Blues Band on tour across the United States and hear the sound that made Mississippi “The Birthplace of the Blues.”
Many of the original BB King Band members have come together to “Keep the Blues Alive” for their fans and to perpetuate the music that King made famous all over the world.
Myron Johnson, BB King’s Tour Manager has re-assembled the band with celebrated Mississippi bluesman Jesse Robinson, as the frontman. Robinson was singled out by “BB” as his favorite guitarist on numerous occasions, therefore, “Jesse was the obvious choice to lead the band as we hit the road to honor the “King of the Blues,” according to Johnson.

2017 Blues Calendar Raising Funds for Brain Injury Association
|
Brant Zwicker attends several blues festivals across the country every year. The music is one of his passions — he’s behind the At The Crossroads radio show devoted to the genre — but his travels also give him the chance to help out the Kamloops Brain Injury Association. All it takes is his camera, musicians who give him the OK and the time and money needed to create a calendar with some of the giants of the music gracing it each month.
It’s a labour of love, Zwicker said, although sometimes he runs across glitches he didn’t expect.
There are some musicians who just don’t agree — or, more often, their public-relations or management teams don’t agree — to let him use the photograph he has taken. ...Find more about this calendar, see images, and how to purchase

Celebrating a Subdued Kind of Blues Dec 10th
|
The Piedmont Blues, a Dec. 10 concert at Strathmore (5301 Tuckerman Ln, North Bethesda, MD ) by jazzman Gerald Clayton and The Assembly, combines jazz, traditional buck dancing and photography in an homage to the blues and the African American culture of the tobacco-producing states of the Southeast.
To those who have only heard the blues of the Mississippi Delta and Chicago or its musical descendants in rock music, the rolling rhythms of the Piedmont blues may sound surprisingly gentle, even somewhat subdued. The listener might not immediately recognize the blues in a guitar style that often sounds rooted in ragtime. And the name of the style is even a bit of a geographic misnomer as its musicians also hail from areas that surround the Piedmont, the Appalachians and the coastal planes.
However, this beautiful folk style, with its intricate guitar work, holds an influential place in American music.
