Benny Turner :: when she’s gone
|
|
Benny's 4th release, when she's gone, is a musical feast featuring six original songs and four blues standards. With special guests Marva Wright, Bob Margolin, and Charles Brown, each song showcases Benny's smooth, soulful voice and his signature bass style.
Nominated for 2016 Blues Blast Soul Blues Album of the Year and Winner of the Independent Music Awards blues song of the year ("I Can't Leave”), this is sure to be a winning addition to your music collection.
when she's gone is in loving memory of Ella Mae, the mother who raised two blues legends - Benny and his big brother, the late blues legend Freddie King, a 2012 inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Turner, who toured with King until his death in 1976, says he remembers their mother, Ella Mae King Turner, playing guitar. ...Read more about this release

Winter Blues Festival Heats up the Season in Kokomo, Indiana Dec 9
|
(Kokomo, IN) - Three local musicians are curing the winter blues.
For the first time since 2013, B.L. Benson, Mike Milligan, and Blindboy and the CNI Dawgs are regrouping in Kokomo [Indiana] to put on the Winter Blues Festival, marking a return to the City of Firsts for the three bands. The concert takes place Friday, Dec. 9, at Phi Delta Kappa House, 2401 Saratoga Ave., Kokomo, Indiana.
According to organizer Mike Milligan, the musicians wanted to perform for their hometown this time around.
“We were doing these blues festivals in Kokomo, but then we started performing in Indianapolis. It seemed like all my focus was on the Indianapolis area, and I’d like to redirect my momentum,” said Milligan.
Milligan, who has lived “within slingshot distance” of B.L. Benson and Blindboy and the CNI Dawgs for more than 20 years, said it’s always a pleasure to perform with his friends for his own city. ...Find out more here
