Raw Sugar, JJ Thames’ follow-up to her debut album is a collection of 13 original works in collaboration with Eddie Cotton, produced by Eddie Cotton (also lead guitar on the album) and co-produced by Thames, and recorded at Malaco Recording Studios. Thames continues her reign as one sexy chanteuse. She has performed all over the world with artists as a backing vocalist, and has even penned songs for some main stream pop, R&B, rock and hip-hop artists, but her path to success was not always glamorous or easy.
Raised in a General Motors fueled, blue-collar family, the classically and jazz trained JJ began performing at the tender age of 9 years old, and became a blues- shouting banshee by the time she was just 18 years old. Fall River’s Narrows Center Serves up the Blues in Jan 2017
|
(Fall River, MA) - The Narrows Center for The Arts (16 Anawan Street, Fall River Massachusetts), kicks off 2017 with a sold-out, post-New Year's dance party, its fourth annual Winter Blues Festival, and a handful of beloved, veteran performers.
Jan. 13-14 is the Fourth annual Winter Blues Festival. Friday features Eric Gales Band, Davina and the Vagabonds, Nick Schnebelen, and Jimmy Bez Blues Band. Doors open at 5 p.m. and show starts at 6 p.m. Saturday features Alexis P. Suter Band, Davy Knowles, Mark T. Small, Dan Lawson, and Black Cadillac Trio. Doors open at 4 p.m., show starts at 5 p.m.
On Jan 5th Grammy-winning guitar legend Albert Lee known best for his finger style and hybrid picking technique will perform in concert; Jan 25 it’s Junior Brown with his unique voice, songwriting and double-necked "Guit-Steel" guitar; Jan 27 features three-time Grammy nominee Bettye LaVette who also won 2016 Best Soul Blues Female; On Jan 28th it’s Matthew Stubbs & the Antiguas, and The Silks. ...Find complete lineup and more info

2017 Australian Blues Music Awards Finalists Announced
|
Melbourne-based guitarist/singer Geoff Achison leads the finalist nominations for the 2017 Australian Blues Music Awards announced Dec 29, 2016. The Internationally renowned artist picked up nods in Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Duo or Group of the Year with his band The Souldiggers.
Fellow-Melbourne performer Hurricane Hearn garnered three nominations in Album of the Year, Artist of The Year and Best New Talent of the Year along with Brisbane newcomers Blues Arcadia who are up for Song of the Year, Duo or Group of the Year and Best New Talent of the Year.
Winners will be announced on Saturday, February 11, 2017 as part of the Australian Blues Music Festival in Goulburn.
