Johnny Rawls :: WAITING FOR THE TRAIN
Johnny Rawls’ new album, Waiting For The Train, will be released by Catfood Records in September 2017. Produced by three-time Grammy winner Jim Gaines, backed by his 8-piece studio group, The Rays, he just gets better with age. His last CD, Tiger In A Cage, reached #1 on the Living Blues Radio Chart and stayed at #1 for 14 weeks on the Roots Music Reports Soul Blues Chart. It also made the Downbeat Magazine Critics’ Best of the Year List just as his previous two albums did.
Raised in Purvis, MS, Johnny, while still in high school, was already backing such stars as Z.Z. Hill, Little Johnny Taylor, Joe Tex and the Sweet Inspirations. In his early 20s, he was hired as the band director for O.V. Wright and stayed with him until O.V.’s death in 1979.

Krystle Warren :: THREE THE HARD WAY
Krystle Warren – the singer, songwriter, bandleader, and Rufus Wainwright collaborator – released her first album in five years, Three The Hard Way, on August 18 on Parlour Door Music. NPR All Things Considered spoke with her about the announcement, calling her music “evocative storytelling."
Recorded, mixed, and co-produced by Ben Kane (D’Angelo, Emily King, PJ Morton), it’s also earned early spins on KCRW. Okayplayer hailed its announcement, calling her "a light in dark times," continuing, "If you're a fan of uncut soul and spirited R&B, Krystle Warren should not escape your gaze or rotation.” A potent mix of styles, Three The Hard Way swirls with R&B, folk music, jazz, hip hop, blues, gospel strains and yet is entirely original in its sound and scope, which ranges from spirituality and love to the effects of social media on our lives and gentrification. ...Find more about this CD and the artist
