Photo Moments with the 16th Annual BFG Magazine

  The Reno Blues Society (RBS) held their 25th Anniversary concert party Aug 4th and featured slide-master Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings as headliner. Rogers was the headliner at their inaugural event in 1993. Supporting the show were artists that played in those early days of RBS which included Guitar Woody & The Fly-By-Night Band featuring the "Queen of Steam" Michele Lundeen!
Michele, who is your Blues Festival e-Guide editor, was the RBS founding editor and made the trip from San Diego to perform with her old band and help celebrate with all.

Johnny Fink & The Intrusion :: JFI

 Award-winning blues band Johnny Fink and The Intrusion debut album is simply titled JFI. The group was known for years as the best-kept secret in the mid-Western scene among blues and blues-rock enthusiasts. That is, until they won the 2015 Cincy Blues Society Band Challenge and made the semifinals at the 2016 International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis. Then, Johnny himself won the 2016 Cincy Blues Challenge in the Solo category and the band won the 2016 Dayton Ohio Blues Challenge, subsequently reaching the finals at the 2017 IBC. The band recently won the 2018 Cincy Blues Challenge.
The first single from the album, "Let's Hear Some Blues," was included on the compilation disc featuring artists from the 33rd IBC, receiving rave reviews and tremendous airplay. JFI also won the 2017 Cincy Blues Society award for Best Self-Produced CD and was a Top 10 Finalist for Best Self-Produced CD at the 2018 IBC. ...Find more about this artist and release

Ticket Sales Zoom for AimLoan San Diego Blues Festival
|
 (SAN DIEGO, CA) - Tickets for the eighth annual AimLoan.com San Diego Blues Festival on Sept. 8 are moving at a record pace. More than 6,000 people are expected to attend the festival, which features Billy Gibbons & Friends as headliners, along with such stalwarts as Kenny Neal, Tommy Castro & the Painkillers, John Nemeth & the Blue Dreamers, the Sons of the Soul Revivers, Lightnin Malcolm, Chickenbone Slim & the Biscuits, Sarah Rogo and Fred Heath. The festival is held on the downtown waterfront, with general admission tickets priced at $30, VIP tickets at $150 and a limited supply of Super VIP tickets for $250. Tickets will be $35 at the gate.
Advance tickets are available at the festival website. All proceeds from the event benefit the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank and its fight against hunger in the region. 2018 Trinidaddio Blues Fest Aug 24 & 25 Hosts World-class Lineup
|
 (TRINIDAD, CO) - Central Park, Trinidad the 2018 edition of Trinidaddio Blues Fest will host another world-class lineup including Robert Randolph & the Family Band a 2018 Grammy Nominee for Best Contemporary Blues Album for their 2017 release Got Soul; Kenny Neal a 2017 Grammy Nominee for Best Contemporary Blues Album, Bloodline; C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band a Grammy Nominee for Best Regional Roots Music Album; and 2018 BMA Nominee for Contemporary Blues Female Artist and Instrumentalist ~ Horn, Vanessa Collier, among others.
Don’t forget the Friday night PreFest Party held to show appreciation to our sponsors and volunteers and showcases some of the talent appearing the next day at the Fest.Gates open at 11am with music starting by noon. Last call is at 8:45pm with the music ending sometime after 9pm. The Fest will include food, craft and many types of merchandise vendors and a display of Art-O-Cade art cars. Ready to Rumble Sept 1-2 at New Blues Festival for 6 String Showdown Finals
|
 (LONG BEACH, CA) - This Labor Day Weekend get ready to rumble at the New Blues Festival in Long Beach when the 6 String Showdown, the summer’s biggest guitar competition, rolls into town. Orange County Regional winners, Jesse Godoy and Ewen Williams, face off with Arcadia’s best, Jessica Kaczmarek and Andy Vimar on Saturday, September 1 at 4pm on the Golden Groove Stage. Judges will determine which two finalists will go head to head on the Main Stage of the New Blues Festival Sunday, September 2 at 2:30pm. Southern California’s all-around, best blues guitar hero will then be crowned and walk away with over $5000 in cash and prizes, including an Eastman T58-v Archtop guitar and more!
The New Blues Festival will be held 10am-8pm at EL Dorado Park (Area 3/Glider Field, 7550 E Spring Street, Long Beach, CA) and over 30 bands on 2 stages including headliners The Lowriders, Janiva Magness, James Harman, and Dennis Jones. Tickets are available now at the festival website.

 (PENSACOLA, FL) - The Blues Society of Northwest Florida presents it's Regional Blues Challenge, an International Blues Challenge-sanctioned event, Saturday, Aug 18 at 2pm at Seville Quarter (130 E. Government St). Fifteen acts have signed to compete. Winners will compete in the 35th International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.

(DES MOINES, IA) - The 2018 Iowa Blues Challenge event will take place on Saturday, Sept 8 at the Des Moines  Social Club (900 Mulberry, Des Moines, Iowa), 4:30pm-9:35pm. For the25th year the Central Iowa Blues Society, in cooperation with the Mississippi Valley Blues Society in Davenport and the Southeast Iowa Blues Society in Fairfield, presents the Iowa Blues Challenge (IABC), a live music competition open to all Iowa-based blues acts and conducted in two categories: Solo/Duo and Band. Acts will be competing for cash prizes for the top three in each category, and additionally the two winners will receive recording time, opportunities for paid gigs and entry into and travel expense stipend for the International Blues Challenge (IBC) in Memphis, TN in January, presented by the Blues Foundation. ...Find more about this Challenge
