Special guests on the CD include singers Curtis Salgado, John Nemeth, Gary Nicholson, Guy Forsyth and Carolyn Wonderland; as well as guitarists Ronnie Earl, Anson Funderburgh, Johnny Moeller, Denny Freeman, Derek O’Brien and Jonn Del Toro Richardson.
“It took us a year to make Get Here Quick,” recalls Mark Kazanoff, who with his horn-mates arranged all the songs and horns on the sessions. “I don’t usually like to do record production projects like that. But this time, we had so many wonderful guest musicians in mind that we knew we would never be able to get ...Find more about this artist and release

The blues are back: Historic Hines Farm rekindles music festival
|
(SWANTON, OH) – The Griffin Hines Farm Blues Fest happens from 4pm-11pm in Swanton Ohio on Saturday Sept 28 at Griffin Hines Farm (3950 S. Berkey Southern Rd). Admission is free and there will be food selections from the local area including Griffin Hines Farm own ribs chicken and fried catfish! Vendors from the Toledo area will be on site.
“After a decade-long absence, the blues are returning to Hines Farm this weekend,” reports Tom Henry of The Toledo Blade.
“With apologies to the killer lineup scheduled to perform at Saturday’s Rise Up Live! Griffin Hines Farm Blues Fest,” Henry continues, “it’s hard to talk about that event without doing another deep-dive into the venue’s iconic past.
After all, it’s only been sporadically open in recent years. But that’s all about to change, according to owner Steve Coleman.
Griffin Hines Farm, which for three decades was known simply as Hines Farm until the late Henry Griffin bought it in 1978, breathes history.
Its musical past includes up-close-and-personal performances by blues legends B.B. King, John Lee Hooker, Count Basie, Otis Redding, Louis Jordan, Little Walter, Jr., Bobby Blue Bland, Freddie King, Joe Tex, Wilson Pickett, and Mack Rice, to name a few.

Larry “The Mole” Taylor… music was his religion!
|
“I guess we have to accept it is true. Larry Taylor, known and loved by our family and longtime comrade in musical adventures, is dead. The eloquence of his talent is evident in the many recordings and live show bootleg videos and TV performances that featured his musical muscle. All are a testament to his singular intimacy with music and his fellow musicians and most of all to his lock solid, raw and visceral embrace and touch with the upright bass. You could hear the secrets and ghosts of the blues from every region and tradition in his playing.
Everything that Larry was…knowing, hilarious, obstinate, short fused, direct and unflinching in his complaints and opinions…is there in the dig- into- it rhythms of his playing.” – Tom Waits
“Larry “The Mole” Taylor, born June 26, 1942, passed, August 19, 2019 at his home in Lake Balboa, CA after a battle with cancer that has been ongoing for twelve years. At his request, no service was held.
Larry is best known as the bass player of legendary Canned Heat and as part of the “original, classic lineup” including Alan Wilson, Bob Hite, Henry Vestine and “Fito” de la Parra. Now, only “Fito” is here…
…Larry told great stories, funny jokes, was a foodie, wine, record, and rock poster collector, computer whiz and a special human being who really “lived for music… music was his religion!” He influenced many of us in different ways and he will be missed by many throughout the music industry.”
– Skip Taylor, manager, producer, and friend for 54 years

Where Do You Keep Your GRAMMY: Fantastic Negrito
|
Fantastic Negrito's road to GRAMMY gold began after rethinking some of the life choices he was making on the streets of Oakland, Calif.
"Kids my age, they were all selling drugs and a lot of people that I knew were getting killed in the streets and I just thought, man, there's gotta be a better way to make money," he told the Recording Academy.
Fast forward to 2017, Negrito earned his first win for 2016's The Last Days Of Oakland in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category. In 2019, Negrito scored his second award in the same category for 2018's Please Don't Be Dead.
The awards meant a lot to him: "It's inspiration and it is validation, especially for people that are outside of the box, 'cause I've been outside of the box my entire life," he said. "I've always felt like I was watching everybody else celebrate. It's been the story of my life and for the GRAMMYs to honor that is huge." ...Find more about Fantastic Negrito & where he keeps his GRAMMY
