What crazy or clever t-shirt photo do you have?
|
Hey there! Do you have a hi-resolution picture of you or someone else wearing a crazy, clever, hysterical, eye-brow-raising, or truly poignant t-shirt at a Blues event? Well, bring it on ‘cause we’d love to see them.
Every once in a while I see someone wearing a t-shirt with some off-the-wall graphic and/or a saying that makes me ponder, smile, covet or just laugh outloud and I wish I’d taken a picture. I did see and take a few shots on the blues cruise recently, which now has piqued my interest for a collection of sorts. Send a JPEG of your fun and/or poignant pics with a caption of where it was taken to michele@bluesfestivalguide.com. Remember a real pic, not ones from the internet (like I just did)! Thanks in advance for sharing your crazy with us!
(R-rated okay but No super x-rated please)

Photo Moments with the 17th Annual BFG Magazine!!
|
Here's pianoman, singer, songwriter Mitch Woods and harpman, singer songwriter Rick Estrin having some fun with me posing on the Oct 2019 Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise on the Mexican Riviera.
They held court for appreciative masses on and off shore, while exuding such positive and entertaining energy. I mean, look at the faces... and look at those shirts!

Sparky Parker :: IN THE DARK
|
|
Houston, Texas-based guitarist Sparky Parker announces the self-release of his new CD, In the Dark, featuring 10 blistering, blues-rock tracks that ignite a fire and ably demonstrate why he is becoming one of the most talked-about performers in his Houston hometown.
Watch the video trailer for In The Dark by clicking the "Listen" button.
Produced by Sparky Parker and recorded, mixed and mastered by Rock Romano at The Redshack Recording Studio in Houston, In the Dark showcases the Sparky Parker Band: Sparky Parker - guitars, vocals; Phillip Lock - bass, backing vocals; and Kevin Berry – drums, with additional keyboards/organ by William Gorman. The CD consists of seven original tunes, plus scintillating covers of songs by The Rolling Stones (“Dead Flowers”), Slim Harpo (“Shake Your Hips’) and Bobby “Blue” Bland, (“I Wouldn't Treat a Dog (The Way You Treated Me).”
The album’s original songs are packed with exciting flourishes and surprises. The wah-wah guitar rhythm on the title track, “In the Dark,” paired with hi-hat 16th notes, is a flashback to checkerboard dance floors and spinning disco balls. “This Old Thing” pumps a hard-driving back-beat on the verse that contrasts nicely to the smooth vocal harmonies on the chorus. In the Dark offers a variety of styles... Find more about this artist and release

|
(Hartford, CT – Berlin, WI) - It will be blowing hard in Berlin, Wisconsin and Hartford, Connecticut this Friday, Nov 15, when two separate harmonica events will be raising their respective roofs.
“The Northeast Blues Harmonica Showcase” at Black-Eyed Sally's Southern Kitchen & Bar (350 Asylum Street, Hartford, CT) will feature four touring harmonica masters, all backed by Johnny Hoy & The Bluefish from 8:30pm-10:30pm. Each of the four blues harp stars will play a set and then the big jam finale’ with all four on stage together. Blues harp burner and vocalist Dave Robbins, bandleader for popular New England regional blues act “The Amplifires,” has also become a member of The Mud Morganfield Band. Tall Richard, a Northeast blues legend, superb harp man, vocalist and bandleader, has led his band for 20 years, performed in Bo Diddley’s band, and shared the stage with blues heavies. Mark Grandfield is known as a harmonica killer, killer soulful vocalist and wild man on stage. Tickets are $18 at Eventbrite. Find more at Black-Eyed Sally’s website.
In Berlin, Wisconsin, David "Harmonica" Miller presents the Wisconsin Annual Blues Harmonica Festival from 6pm -10pm at the VFW Post 5716 (17980 West Beloit Road in New Berlin, WI). Fuzzy Rankins Crowned Best Blues Guitarist in Southern California
|
(LOS ANGELES, CA) – The Six String Showdown (6SS) is a blues guitar competition developed for musicians by musicians. The goals of the competition are threefold, the final result being the crowning of The Best Blues Guitarist in Southern California. While the competition takes center stage, promoting the blues in all of its forms is also a primary goal. The judges base their decision on showmanship, technical skills, and audience response.
For the final rounds of the competition, 6SS teamed up with the Signifyin’ Blues Festival, a four-day music and dance festival benefitting singer Barbara Morrison’s California Jazz & Blues Museum. Kern County Regional winner Lenny “Fuzzy” Rankins was already slotted to perform at the festival along with Ms. Morrison, Keb’ Mo,’ Erica Brown and more. The semi-finals were held Friday, Nov 8, right before Fuzzy’s performance, with regional winners Johnny Michael Agundez (Los Angeles County), Teddy Lee Hooker (Orange County), Kirk Browne (San Diego County), and Fuzzy, backed by bassist C.J. Wilson and drummer Styxx Marshall. Semi-finalist judges were Gregg Wright, Diana Rein, and Jessica Kaczmarek.
The ultimate finalists were Lenny “Fuzzy” Rankins and Teddy Lee Hooker, who battled it out on Sunday, Nov 10, backed by bassist C.J. Wilson and drummer Eric Tice and judged by Dennis Jones, Sam Meek, and Steve Artea. Fuzzy was crowned winner and emcee Kenny Williams presented him with guitars from Tagima and Schechter. ...Find more about Fuzzy, 6SS and Signifyin' Blues
