Warhammer
Ironshield Brewing
Lawrenceville, Georgia, 7.0% ABV
Maibock/Helles Bock Strong Golden Lager
Deep amber in color with eye-catching orange hues, this spectacular example of a Bavarian-style strong lager shines with brilliant clarity and a long-lasting layer of foam. Expect aromas and flavors reminiscent of toasted bread, honey, flowers and a hint of spice from the rich malt and alcohol content. As a malt-driven lager, this beer offers a pleasant sweetness, medium body and a balanced, nicely attenuated finish that makes this gorgeous beer highly drinkable and dangerous. Would pair well with boiled crabs or blackened fish.
Big Softy
Monday Night Brewing
Atlanta, Georgia, 5.2% ABV
American Wheat Ale
Golden in color with a light orange hue, this wheat beer also presents a mild haze and fluffy white head. The nose picks up citrus and pine notes from American hops that are supported and balanced by wheat and cereal grain character and mild, pleasant fruity esters. Flavors include mouth-watering citrusy hops and light esters of papaya and peach - all supported by a soft, pillowy mouthfeel. The beer ends lightly sweet with a great balance of hops and malt in the appealing aftertaste. Superbly refreshing, drinkable and satisfying.
Cooter Brown Ale
Jekyll Brewing
Alpharetta, Georgia, 6.0% ABV
American Brown Ale
This ale sports a deep brown color, medium layer of tan foam and respectable head retention. Look for a toasty, malty nose with hints of carob, mild earthy hops and restrained fruity esters. This medium/light bodied ale offers flavor notes of tasty chocolate, mild hops and a hint of dark cherries. Hop bitterness takes a backseat to the low-key dark malt character, and the ale finishes moderately dry with a pleasant, lingering light bitter chocolate nuance. This appealing ale would pair well with scones, biscotti or pancakes.
Nostalgia
Slow Pour Brewing
Lawrenceville, Georgia, 6.4% ABV
American IPA
With a dark copper color and thick off-white head, this classic IPA also shines with great clarity. When the beer is swirled in a large glass, aromas emerge that include wonderful citrusy and piney American hops along with esters reminiscent of kiwi and light tropical fruits. Expect a flavor canvas that showcases a caramel malt hint and biscuit crust notes backed by grapefruit and pine resin hop flavors. Fruity esters of apricot and nectarines also come through in the flavor. This hoppy ale offers a pleasing malt/hop balance and wonderful drinkability highlighted by a tantalizing mild bitterness that remains for a bit on the palate.
Pilsen Gold
Southern Brewing Company
Athens, Georgia, 4.7% ABV
Pilsner
Expect an attractive golden color with nice clarity and mild white foam. Aroma notes include floral noble hops, mild honey-like pilsner malt and a slight mineral hint in the crisp, clean nose. This flavorful, well-balanced lager boasts flavors of light malt sweetness and a lovely, spicy hop flavor. Mild hop bitterness makes the finish a memorable experience when sipping this light-bodied, remarkably clean example of a Czech-style premium pale lager. Pair with clam chowder or chicken & dumplings.
Satisfied Local Lager Beer
Piedmont Brewery & Kitchen
Macon, Georgia, 5.0% ABV
American Lager
With a golden tone, big layer of white foam and great clarity, this beer checks all the boxes for perfect appearance in the American lager category. Aromas of sweet malt, cereal grains and extremely light esters mingle with just a hint of corn. Expect a slightly bigger body, mouthfeel and complexity than found in most mass-market American lagers. Clean, crisp flavors of light malt and cereal grains work well with a gentle touch of floral hops in the background. This style is not easy to pull off, but this lager nails it. Pair with pulled pork or dry-rub chicken wings.
Pumpkin Spice
Urban Tree Cidery
Atlanta, Georgia, 5.0% ABV
Cinnamon & Spice Fall Apple Cider with Pumpkin Juice
With a dark gold/orange color and almost no foam, this specialty hard cider glows with a moderate haze. Aroma notes include loads of cinnamon, apple sauce and mulling spices. With a light calvados hint, the aromas of this creative cider invite a sip. On the tongue, expect a medium-bodied richness and spiced apple pie nuance. Flavors seem pleasant and balanced, with apple character working well with spices and the hint of pumpkin. Spices bring to mind cinnamon, clove and a touch of nutmeg. There's also a trace of toffee and perhaps a bit of blood orange character in this remarkably festive and delicious tipple.
