Photo Moments with the 20th Annual BFG Magazine!
Multi-award winning, Grammy nominated songwrite, piano player, vocalist, Lady Bianca, Queen of the Blues, Gospel, boogie and soul, was surely one of the highlights in the Piano Bar aboard the October 2022 Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise. Between her rousing piano skills, passionate vocals, witty banter, and sumptuous outfits complete with a variety of wigs, she was quite the entertaining package.

We were delighted to catch Lady Bianca on the Oct 2022 Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise (LRBC).

News Flash...
It's Not Too Late To Make A Difference if you act right now!
Little Village Foundation (LVF) just received the Keeping the Blues Alive award from the Blues Foundation for their outstanding work with artists. They focus on seeking out, recording, and promoting artists whose music has not yet been discovered outside of their communities.

They are able to accomplish this through the generosity of donors. Still need to make an end-of-year gift? You can help make the music happen now - and if you act fast you can make your gift go twice as far thanks to an anonymous donor matching gift challenge that runs through the end of 2022.

Little Village Foundation is a nonprofit record company that seeks to shine the light of awareness on those who might not otherwise be heard. The artist owns 100% of their content and owes nothing for all services provided by Little Village, including recording, manufacturing, marketing and promotion.

13th Clarksdale Film & Music Festival Jan 27-29, 2023
(CLARKSDALE, MS) - The Clarksdale Film & Music Festival returns Jan 27-29 with another stellar weekend of movies, music and Mississippi. This year's pop-up theater venue is the new Shared Experiences headquarters at 121 Delta Avenue in historic downtown Clarksdale.

"As always, the Clarksdale Film & Music Festival is exactly that — a cool, curated mix of blues movies and Mississippi-connected films topped off with live music performances and very special guests," said co-founder Roger Stolle. "Unlike big city festivals, ours is what we like to call 'small but mighty,' and as a result, it offers nonstop opportunities to make those super special memories that Clarksdale known for."

This year's featured films include a remastered edition of what Stolle called "quite possibly the greatest blues documentary of the past 30 years"—Deep Blues: A Musical Pilgrimage to the Crossroads. Filmed partly in Clarksdale, the festival screening will be introduced by its creator Robert Mugge. The award-winning director will also present a special two-hour cut of his Blues Divas concert film—an unprecedented weekend happening captured for posterity just down the street at world-famous Ground Zero Blues Club in 2004 with the help of Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman and club co-owner Bill Luckett.

Other featured blues music films include the Mississippi premieres of Bonnie Blue: James Cotton's Life in the Blues (presented by executive-producer Judy Laster and co-producer/acclaimed blues musician James Montgomery), Tail Dragger (presented by the legendary Southern-born Chicago bluesman himself, James Yancey Jones a.k.a. "Tail Dragger," and special guest Tamara Jackiw), and Harmonica Bean (presented by Emmy/Oscar award-winning director Ted Reed, editor Nolan Dean and the Mississippi bluesman himself, Terry "Harmonica" Bean).

Plus, as part of the Mississippi Film Office's 50th anniversary, office director Nina Parikh and marketing manager Carey Miller will be onhand to present the new Juliette Binoche/Morgan Freeman/Frank Grillo R-rated thriller Paradise Highway. Principal filming took place in Clarksdale over the summer of 2021.

Additional screenings include brand-new features and shorts by Clarksdale's Will Goss, Helena's Nolan Dean and Nashville's Tim Hardiman.

Festival blues performances include Anthony "Big A" Sherrod, Terry "Harmonica" Bean, Libby Rae Watson, Sean "Bad" Apple and Lucious Spiller. Plus, Clarksdale will feature its normal live blues in the clubs and jukes every night after the films have gone silent.

Full festival details here. Clarksdale's 7-nights-a-week music calendar, and a full listing of unique local lodging.

Dyer Davis :: DOG BITES BACK
“With fire and soul, 23-year-old Florida-based singer/guitarist, Dyer Davis’ carefully crafted music and dynamic performing completely satisfies any aching desire for something heartfelt, original, brilliant, and exciting. Fulfilling the hungriest of roots music lovers with a bluesy feast fit for a king. Dog Bites Back plants Dyer firmly in a seat at the table amongst titans. He transcends the norm, while tipping his hat to the greats that came before.” - Victor Wainwright

As a child Dyers’ father, also a musician, turned him on to the music of the 60’s
and 70’s. The artists that spoke to him the most were the blues-based rockers,
especially the early Jeff Beck records featuring Rod Stewart. This instilled in him
the importance of the blues as the key foundation of the music he was drawn to.
What surely separates Dyer from other blues rockers is his exceptional soulful voice, tasteful guitar playing, and strong writing ability.

In late 2021, Dyers long-time supporter, producer/engineer, Billy Chapin (Don Henley, Sister Hazel), reached out to award-winning producer, WildRoots Records
Stephen Dees to consider co-producing and co-writing with them. After a couple of sessions Dees was completely won over by Dyers’ talent and engaging personality. So much so that Stephen invited Dyer to perform on the WildRoots latest release, WildRoots Sessions Volume 2. Dyer delivers a stunning vocal on the track “The Bad Seed,” one of the top tracks off that album.

Now a part of the WildRoots Records team, Dyers’ debut recording Dog Bites Back features guests; Grammy nominated Victor Wainwright (keys), Billy Dean
(drums), Stephen Dees (bass), and Patricia Ann Dees (saxophone), with Billy Chapin (guitar) and Dyers’ trio David Weatherspoon (drums) and Jacob Barone
(bass), and special guests Stan Lynch (The Heartbreakers - drums), Doug Woolverton (trumpet), and Mark Earley (bari sax).

Just in Case: Jan 1st is "International Public Domain Day" celebrated every year to shed some light on the copyright laws in the U.S., and what happens when they end. The answer is that copyrighted items become part of the public domain. This means that the works of numerous artists, including writers, photographers, and musicians, can then be used or rewritten for numerous information sites, and yes, the permission of the artist is no longer needed. According to a source, songs enter the public domain 50-75 years after the death of the last surviving creator (writer, composer, etc.). Different countries have different copyright protection tenures.
