The Canadian native residing in Texas just recently won 2023 Best Blues Act and Best Guitarist at the Austin Music Awards. She's also a 2023 BMA Nominee for Traditional Female Artist (Koko Taylor Award), which she won in 2022 and 2020.
Sue has also won multiple Canadian Maple Blues and Juno Awards.

Three incredible days at Tampa Bay Blues Festival this April
|
(ST. PETERSBURG, FL) - The Tampa Bay Blues Festival returns to the waterfront at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg, Florida April 14-16, 2023. That’s three days of incredible blues music on the shores of Tampa Bay, plus the official kickoff concert on April 13 at the Palladium Theater.
Join us for a fantastic weekend featuring Robert Cray, Tommy Castro & The Painkillers, Ana Popovic, Larry McCray, Colin James on Friday. Saturday it’s Tower of Power, Tab Benoit, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Chris Cain, and Dawn Tyler Watson. Sunday it’s The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Mr. Sipp, Vanessa Collier, Jimmy Carpenter, JT Lauritsen.
Gates Friday and Saturday open at approx. 12 noon. Gates on Sunday open at approx. 12:30pm.
The official Kickoff Concert happens Thursday April 13 at the historic Palladium Theater (253 Fifth Avenue North), St. Petersburg, Florida, featuring Tommy Castro & The Painkillers. Showtime is 8pm-9:30pm and doors open 7pm.

Sugaray to Headline Winter Music Festival Mar 11
|
(MILWAUKIE, OR) - March 11, 2023 will mark the 11th year that the Winter Music Festival brings top national blues acts to Clackamas County for a day of music and charity. The all-ages festival will be held at Elks Lodge & Ballroom, 13121 SE McLoughlin Blvd., in Milwaukie, Oregon. Doors 3pm and showtime is 3:30pm.
The lineup includes Sugaray Rayford, the multi-award-winning soul-blues powerhouse and BMA Entertainer of The Year; Michael Osborn (John Lee Hooker's lead guitarist for 13 years); Kristine Deelane & The Hurt, Portland’s Soul extravaganza; harpman Franco Paletta and The Stingers; the blues-funk-R&B-soul of Vintage Soul; and Terry Robb and his signature fingerpicking style.
The venue has two stages and featuring simulcast screens, large dance floors, full-service bars and food menu.
Various children’s and veteran charities will benefit from this year’s festival ticket proceeds, along with raffle and silent auction items like jewelry, wine or baskets.
General Admission Tickets are $40 and available at the Elks Lodge Office and Bar. Children 10 and over are $15. Will Call on line, and available the day of the show for $45. There’s ample parking and the venue is across the street from the light-rail line and bus stops.

Downtown Sarasota Blues Festival March 3-5 free
|
(SARASOTA, FL) - If relaxing, having fun, enjoying good food and listening to great live music over this weekend is "The Plan" – well here's exactly what you need at the Downtown Sarasota Blues Festival at J.D. Hamel Park in Sarasota, Florida.
The outdoor, pet-friendly festival begins Friday evening 4pm-10pm and continues Saturday 11am-10pm and Sunday 11am-6pm. Admission is Free! No outside food and beverages allowed. Seating provided but you may bring your own chairs if you prefer.
You can choose your foods from a diverse menu by local restaurants and food purveyors, plus selections of alcoholic, non-alcoholic and fruit drinks along with sodas and bottled water.
Performances scheduled are JP Soars & The Red Hots, Bridget Kelly Band, Sean Chambers, Joey Gilmore, John Long, Jewel Tones, Gary Memphis Rub, Memphis Lightning, Frank Bang, Lee Boys, and Mike Hund’s All Stars.

The 16th Blues Blast Music Awards submissions are open now until May 31st, 2023. The Blues Blast Music Awards honor contemporary
Blues artists and their recordings.
Independent artists and labels are encouraged to submit their releases for consideration. You can click HERE to submit your music now! Albums released between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023 are eligible and must now be submitted digitally only for consideration (no CDs).
The new Blues Video of the Year category also provides a way to recognize artists who have a YouTube video of a song. All YouTube videos must be released between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023.
Tickets and hotel information for the BBMA ceremonies in Peoria, IL on September 23rd, 2023 will be announced soon.

30th Annual River City Blues Mar 17-18
|
(MARIETTA, OH) - The 30th Annual River City Blues Festival is set to take place on March 17th-18th at the Lafeyette Hotel, 101 Front St., in Marietta, Ohio.
Organized by the Blues, Jazz, and Folk Music Society of the Mid-Ohio Valley, the festival will feature The Nighthawks, the Ghost Town Blues Band, John Primer and the Real Deal Blues Band, Doug MacLeod, Mississippi Heat, and Paul Rishell & Annie Raines, among other artists.
Along with the great music, food and drink will be for sale, there's comfortable seating, a smoke‑free venue, and a large dance floor.

Delta Blues Museum's permanent exhibits continue to grow
|
(CLARKSDALE, MS) - Delta Blues Museum's permanent exhibits continue to grow! A second expansion is underway and visitors can see new features on "anchor artists" like Bessie Smith and a special focus on Women in the Blues.
And thanks to a Mississippi Delta National Heritage Area grant, online visitors can check out a new video feature on their website: See our newest Field Trip focused on the life of Blues giant Robert Johnson.
In the Museum gallery, the latest exhibit features a collection of Blues art created from found artifacts by artist Bil Steber. Spirit in the Soil: Objects and Evocations of the Mississippi Blues combines history and art to tell a deeper story of Delta Blues greats.
