The concept of community can mean a lot of things to different people. Among blues lovers, community is often spoken of as one's "blues family." A place where folks who love and support the blues come together to enjoy each other, the music, and to support the genre'. Beyond the family feel folks have when they gather for these various events, Ozark Blues Society also has a "blues family."
Our community comes in the form of shared support. Our "family" includes members, donors and sponsors, as well as community partners who through their contributions, help us continue our "Keeping the Blues Alive" outreach mission while we support live, local blues music. For this newsletter, we try very hard to present information that not only informs, but also returns the support to our community. Beyond featuring news and calendar listings that are tied directly to our blues oriented mission, you will see us also giving back to our supporters by promoting non-blues live music they are offering. We do realize that our faithful readers come here to find ways to build their blues family and blues knowledge and may not be interested in some of these other events. That said, we appreciate your understanding of how we use our newsletter as an outreach platform to help strengthen the live music community in NWA. To close, if as a reader, you ever find anything truly objectionable, please let Sandy know using the email link below.
Returning from last week you will find our article about our upcoming Blues Challenge. Remember, if you are, or know, a blues musician within 250 miles of Bentonville, you can now find the information you need to plan posted on our website. Registration will begin on September 1st.
The returning articles this week are the links for the the ongoing summer music series in the area and the continuing article for the weekly Blues History feature from Big Train and the Loco Motives. Read on below for more information and to access these great blues history presentations.
Perhaps you are not seeing your favorite blues artist or venue listed in our calendar? We compile listings from local community calendars for our partner artists and venues throughout the area. Remember, artists and fans alike may send us blues event listings that may not appear in the community calendars. Just email SANDY to share
listings that include performances occurring from next weekend through the following weekend.
It's always important to say, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send questions, information, feedback, and suggestions our way. Just click below to email Sandy.
We appreciate our readers and want
to see your ideas included!
