Yep, you guessed it, this week's opening is putting a focus on one of our community's live music gems, the Walmart AMP. From the early days of the Arkansas Music Pavilion (AMP) in the parking lot of the Northwest Arkansas Mall to it's current permanent (very upgraded) form in Rogers, the AMP has been bringing high quality national touring artists to the area. One glance at the AMP'S SPONSOR LIST points to the strong community support which helps keep tickets affordable. With a season that runs from spring to fall, they bring
in a range of artists and genres.
Just this next week alone, they will
be hosting concerts on four night, plus a kids program on Saturday! Though Ozark Blues Society recognizes that venues such as the AMP do not focus on the blues like we do, we wish to show our appreciation of one more of our community partners that does
such a tremendous job in promoting live music. So for this week,
hats off to the Walmart AMP!
Returning again this week, you will find our article about our upcoming Blues Challenge. Remember, if you are, or know, a blues musician within 250 miles of Bentonville, you can now find the information you need to plan posted on our website. Registration will begin on September 1st.
Also returning are the links for the ongoing summer music series in
our area as well as the continuing article for the weekly Blues History feature from Big Train and the Loco Motives. Read on below for more information and to access these great blues history presentations.
Perhaps you are not seeing your favorite blues artist or venue listed in our calendar? We compile listings from local community calendars for our partner artists and venues throughout the area. Remember, artists and fans alike may send us blues event listings that may not appear in the community calendars. Just email SANDY to share
listings that include performances occurring from next weekend through the following weekend.
It's always important to say, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send questions, information, feedback, and suggestions our way. Just click below to email Sandy.
We appreciate our readers and want
to see your ideas included!
