Music Maker Photography Studio will capture the Essence
|
(FOUNTAIN, NC) - Welcome to The Music Maker Photography Studio (MMPS) in Fountain, North Carolina. Our studio is a haven for both digital and tintype photography, and videography, capturing the essence of our partner artists and their awe-inspiring work. At the heart of our creative sanctuary is co-founder Tim Duffy, a visionary artist known for his breathtaking tintype photographs of musicians, showcased proudly in museums and galleries all over the country.
We’re excited to announce our newest endeavor: monthly sessions that bring together Tim and other talented photographers to capture the unique essence of individual artists and groups. We’re also using this space to bring in professional videographers to craft music videos that will serve as powerful promotional materials for our artists’ upcoming album releases.
Through these various media, we provide musicians with invaluable tools to unlock their potential. From booking performances to self-promotion and building an online presence, our studio supports artists on their journey to success. We believe that quality photographs hold a deeper significance; they are not just promotional assets but also emblems of our nation’s cultural heritage. Over the past three decades, our photographs have formed the core of museum exhibits that traveled to over 50 museums and cultural centers, introducing countless individuals and schoolchildren to the rich legacy of American roots music.
In this media-driven society, music videos have become essential elements in every artist’s press kit. We understand their power, and that’s why we’ll be hosting video filming sessions here every quarter. These videos will find their way onto our YouTube Channel and social media platforms.
At The Music Maker Photography Studio, we are committed to nurturing artists and celebrating the legacy of American music. We invite you to embark on this creative journey with us, where the spirit of American roots music comes alive in every shot and every frame.

Mike Bourne Band Featuring Jimmy Burgin
:: CRUISIN’ KANSAS CITY
|
|
Kansas City, much like New Orleans, has a unique distinction of being a melting pot and a swingin’ capital of jazz and blues musical styles that played no small part in influencing what would become R&B and rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s. Guitar man, Mike Bourne, has spent time in other cities of music, Chicago and Atlanta, but makes the Missouri border city his home and plays his own version of what is known as Kansas City Blues.
In tribute to the players who mentored him and the late nights in the sweaty clubs of the famous 18th and Vine district, he recorded Cruisin’ Kansas City.
Joining Bourne for the 13-song set are members of his band, Kansas City Boogie, and a collection of friends and special guests - guitarist Johnny Burgin, keyboardists Dave Creighton and Johnny Iguana, Big D Erickson (R.I.P.), Mickey Munoz from the Hoodoo Brothers, John Paul Drum, and Greg Hopkins, trumpeter with the Buddy Rich Orchestra.
Bourne has recorded and performed with legends of the genre, including Otis Rush, Sam Lay, Barrelhouse Chuck and more. After long stints in Chicago and Atlanta, he's back home in Kansas City. Having joined forces with high-caliber band members, their high-energy shows have the town buzzing. His new album, Cruisin’ Kansas City, honors the Kansas City blues tradition started on 18th and Vine with thirteen exciting new songs and grooves.

Just In Case... plus Holidays & Birthdays
|
"Hard times ain't nothing that music won't help heal..."
Birthdays: Aug 24-Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup (1905-1974), Wynonie Harris (1915-1969 pictured); Aug 25-Mr. Sipp aka Castro Coleman (1976); Aug 26-Jimmy Rushing (1901-1972); Aug 29-Charlie Parker (1920-1955), Dinah Washington (1924-1963); Aug 30-Luther "Snake Boy" Johnson (1934-1976); Aug 31-Joanna Connor (1962 photo by Maryam Wilcher, Joanna's daughter), Van Morrison (1945); Sept 2-Billy Preston (1946-2006); Sept 3-Memphis Slim (1915-1988), Freddie King (1934-1976); Sept 4-Meade "Lux" Lewis (1905-1964); Sept 5-Sunnyland Slim (1907-1995); Sept 6-Jimmy Reed (1925-1976); Sept 7-Little Milton Campbell (1934-2005), Latimore (1939)
Just in case: Well, Aug 28th is "National Red Wine Day!" Lots of songs talk about the ups and downs of wine... for instance the complimentary reference in "Pride & Joy (Stevie Ray Vaughan), the resolution in "Trying To Live My Life Without You" (Otis Clay), the carefree "Drinking Wine Spo-Dee-O-Dee" (Sticks McGhee), and the desperation of "Cherry Red Wine" (Luther Allison). What's in your glass?
