- Exciting Georgia Brewery Events and Releases
|
Not Harry Potter's Butter Beer
Wild Heaven's (Avondale Estates and Atlanta) first kettle sour ale was made in collaboration with Georgia's own Banner Butter. The 5% ABV beer sees an initial fermentation driven by Banner Butter's own proprietary butter culture and cultured whey. The ale is then refermented with Belgian yeast and dry-hopped with Galaxy. "This experimental golden ale is moderately tart with citrus notes and earthy tones," notes Wild Heaven's Sarah Young. "It's a wonderful example of the microbiology that makes Banner Butter so unique, and don't worry, our Banner Butter Ale doesn't taste like butter. Also, check out our new Tesoro Lime Margarita Gose. Fresh lime juice and Portuguese sea salt come together in a classic gose to create the perfect pairing with Tex-Mex food from El Tesoro, our new onsite restaurant."
What the Helles?
Marietta's Schoolhouse Brewing announces its new 5% ABV Lager-Naut Helles - a pale, golden-hued Munich-style lager with a soft, bready malt flavor and light hop bitterness. Schoolhouse notes that this refreshing beer comes across as "crisp and clean - the perfect beer for fall days."
Sweet Cherry Street
Cherry Street Brewing's three locations (Cumming, Alpharetta and Chattanooga) are all planning celebrations for the fall. Cherry Street's Lucy Teusink reports, "Hopheads can rejoice with the release of our Beastie Boys tribute beer Hey Hazies, brewed with Mosaic, Simcoe and Riwaka. Stout lovers will remember Bear Proof, and it's coming back even better this year, perfect for sharing at Thanksgiving. But save room because Kegs & Eggs, our annual Black Friday party, returns on November 24. Between the dark beer releases, brunch specials, cocktails and unmatched camaraderie, folks won't want to miss this."
Normaltown Expands
Current beers at Normaltown Brewing in Athens include California Common, Osiris Milk Stout, Summon the Fog NEIPA, SunTan Sour Strawberry/Lime, Hair Band Blonde and Lord of the Haze NEIPA. Normaltown will expand into a larger space over the next few months by relocating just down the road at 425 Barber Street in the former Jittery Joe's coffee roastery space. The nanobrewery will be upgraded to a ten-barrel system with 70 barrels of fermentation capacity.
Changes are Distilling at Monkey Wrench
Formerly operating on a modest three-barrel system, Suwanee's Monkey Wrench Brewing has expanded to a 20-barrel, three-vessel brewhouse with a fleet of 12 fermentation tanks. Also expanding into the world of spirits, Monkey Wrench now houses an impressive 500-gallon copper pot still with a continuous eight-plate 12” column. Both the brewery and distillery were installed by MW Control Solutions, a globally recognized automation expert that works with companies such as Jameson and Bushmills.
Foxy Business
Head over to Social Fox Brewing in Norcross to sample the tasty house brews from brewer Jamie Parker and enjoy upcoming events such as a concert with the Xtreme Party Band on 11/3 and a Dia de los Muertos fest on 11/4.
