Blues News You Can Use!
Days, Weeks, Months!
I imagine most of you have some countdowns going as we approach Christmas and NYE. As we count "days"...don't forget tomorrow is the last day to enter the drawing for
two free tickets (see below) to a fun Holiday show at the Walton Arts Center. Check out the article
below to find out how you can participate in the drawing!
Then as we count in terms of "weeks," it is only a little more than
a week until Christmas! For me that means kiddos arriving. One is coming from Tokyo on the 22nd and
one from Oregon on the 24th. Also planning visits with the nearby kiddos in Tulsa and Little Rock!
And lastly, if we look at "months," it is just a bit less than a month till the OBS Bound for Beale Fundraiser. Have you gotten your tickets yet?
It certainly will be an exciting evening with amazing music from our
winners! Tickets are available through George's Majestic's Ticketing Link HERE
Please come out and join us on JANUARY 7, 2024! Check out the article below for more information.

And, as always, don't miss the awesome weekly blues history article from Jimbo "Big Train" Madson.
Also be sure and keep an eye on our calendar. Perhaps you are not seeing your favorite blues artist or venue listed in our calendar? We compile listings from local community calendars for our partner artists and venues throughout the area. Remember, artists and fans alike may send us blues event listings that may not appear in the community calendars. Just email SANDY to share
listings that include performances occurring from next weekend through the following weekend.
It's always important to say, this is YOUR newsletter! Please send questions, information, feedback, and suggestions our way. Just click below to email Sandy.
We appreciate our readers and want
to see your ideas included!

From the Walton Arts Center Website: "In a holiday extravaganza like no other, the Squirrel Nut Zippers perform hits from their beloved Christmas Caravan and Mardi Gras for Christmas albums, alongside timeless holiday classics. This talented group captures the very essence of the season, blending heartwarming ballads with lively dance tunes, transporting you to a world where Christmas lights meet the allure of a speakeasy. Led by the endlessly creative Jimbo Mathus, the Zippers infuse their performances with 1920s jazz, klezmer and vaudeville influences, resulting
in a truly original, toe-tapping,
Southern-roots sound."

We are quickly entering the holiday rush time of the year! Ozark Blues Society each year hosts a fundraiser to help cover the cost of the sponsorship we offer the winner of our annual Blues Challenge.
The date we choose each year is a complex mix of the availability of our winning band to perform, venue availability, and working around the dates set for the International Blues Challenge. As always, we seek to schedule the fundraiser prior to the International Blues Challenge. Our fundraiser directly funds the sponsorship award we offer as well as offers the band a chance to do perform their IBC set for a crowd prior to heading to Memphis.
We value the support of our members and readers. Please mark your calendars to join us on Sunday, January 7, 2024. This year we will be holding our "Bound for Beale" Fundraiser in Fayetteville at George's Majestic Lounge. You can purchase tickets at GEORGE'S MAJESTIC LOUNGE WEBSITE
