Glen Washington  -  Feeling Irie - NEW RELEASE out now!
As an aspiring musician in his native Clarendon parish, Jamaica, Glen Washington listened to songs that helped guide his career as a drummer and singer. He has never forgotten those timeless melodies, many of them from the studio of Treasure Isle, one of the greatest labels in reggae history.

Washington revisits some of those hallowed rhythms for Feeling Irie, his latest album, scheduled for release in July on LTK20 Recordz. The set is produced by Willie Lindo, who has guided A-list singers such as Dennis Brown (Inseparable, Since I've Been Loving You), Beres Hammond (What One Dance Can Do) and Boris Gardiner (I Want to Wake up With You) on outstanding songs.

Washington said it was his idea to dig into producer Duke Reid’s vast Treasure Isle catalogue for Feeling Irie. Lindo, who also produced I’m Living Well, his 2020 album, readily agreed.
om

“Dem thing mi grow up on as a little youth, ‘cause mi used to play soun’, mi used to be a selector back inna di day. Dis album is perfect, inna di same vein as di Studio One album…dis a guh bun up di place!” said an excited Washington.

Lindo, a prolific session guitarist at Federal Records during the 1970s, played on several tracks for the new album. An interesting inclusion is Jackie Jackson, who played bass on many of the original Treasure Isle tracks in the 1960s. Treasure Isle was founded and operated by Reid, a former policeman known to wear his firearms during recording sessions at the studio, which was located at Bond Street in West Kingston.

Throughout the 1960s, Treasure Isle had an intense rivalry with Studio One, run by Clement "Coxsone" Dodd. Reid died in 1975, but his revered rhythms live on through projects like Feeling Irie. Songs like Home Again are driven by the music of My Best Girl by The Paragons, while Put it Down is done to The Melodians' Everybody Bawling.

Washington had major success with Brother to Brother, his 1996 album which heard him record songs on classic Studio One rhythms. He is looking for similar success with Feeling Irie!

Raphi, born Raphiel Chambers on April 14, 1989, is a highly talented recording reggae dance hall artiste and producer, known by his stage name, Raphi. Hailing from the Rocktop Duo group, he was raised in the vibrant community of Rocktop, Tucker Irwin, located in the parish of S.t James, Jamaica. Currently, he resides in Hanover, where he has established his own recording studio, a testament to his dedication and passion for music.Coming from a family of devout Rastafarians, Raphi was exposed to the enchanting sounds of Nyabinghi at a young age.

It was during these gatherings that he discovered his deep love for music and began nurturing his singing talent alongside his siblings.Growing up in the face of adversity and the daily challenges life presented, Raphi found solace in music. With the tragic loss of his father during his teenage years, music became his refuge and an avenue for healing. Driven by a burning desire to fill the void left by his father's passing, Raphi recognized the transformative power of music and embarked on a path towards greatness. He possesses more than just the skills of a typical recording artiste; his multifaceted talents extend to playing the bass guitar, and he aspires to master additional instruments as he continues honing his craft. This gift serves as both a blessing and an instrument of self- expression for Raphi, distinguishing him as a blossoming producer with his own registered label
"Rocktop Records".
