Jamaica Woodland Festival ~ Music and Camping ~ Easter weekend 2025 in Ocho Rios
The organisers of the inaugural Jamaica Woodland Festival have a firm conviction that their festival experience can bring families together for a unique and unforgettable experience in paradise during the Easter weekend of 2025.

“We will be hosting the festival in the Ocho Rios area of St Ann, so the business and local community including hoteliers in the resort town, are equally excited about this event,” David Anderson, founder, event director and logistics manager of the Jamaica Woodland Festival, said.

“With camping as an element of this experience, the event will bring families together for a full day-and-night experience in a pristine, natural environment,” he added, noting that it will be the ideal place for families to be engaged in multiple activities.

During the day there will be cultural presentations, kids’ villages, and obstacle courses involving family participation.

The organisers said after the day’s events, families will then be able to camp out at the venue during the night. Visitors will be encouraged to bring and pitch their own pre-equipped tents. They can also rent a pre-pitched tent with basic amenities from the organisers, for a hassle-free experience.

“They can also upgrade to our luxurious tent, featuring comfortable beds, furniture, and other amenities. There will be shared facilities; access to shared bathrooms, showers, and changing areas. Plus, there will be 24-hour security, ensuring your safety and peace of mind,” Anderson said.

Campers and festival goers will be entertained by a diverse line-up of local and international artistes and top sound systems.

“I, King Shark, grew up in Greenwich Town and it was a blessing.  All my friends like Earl Zero, Philip Fraser, Sylvan White, Tony Tuff, Donovan Joseph, Jonny Osbourne, to name just a few, inspired me to do what I do today. In the early 1980’s, Greenwich Town was the place to be, and these guys were the pioneers and the talk-of-the-town who brought Reggae to a whole new level, where people could dance, understand the culture of the lyrics, and appreciate the genuine quality of great Reggae Music. I have created this album to honor, celebrate and support my friends on our musical journeys together over so many decades.”

About Montego Records: About Montego Records: For most of his 67 years, music has been a focal point for Alphonso “King Shark” Henclewood. A proud son of Jamaica and the Kingston community of Greenwich Farm, the prolific artist/producer released four albums through his Montego Records in September. These projects are special for King Shark as he worked with people he grew up with in Greenwich Farm, a working-class community in Jamaica’s capital Kingston that has a rich music history. “I selected these artists because we have a history together.During the 1960s and 1970s, King Shark was raised in a Greenwich Farm, a seafaring community that was one of the hottest music areas in Jamaica. It was the stomping ground for producer Bunny Lee, as well as singers Slim Smith, Delroy Wilson, Cornel Campbell, Johnny Clarke and Prince Allah. Those joyful times, and sounds, are heard on these latest productions from King Shark and Montego Records which is based in New Mexico. Enjoy!
For over 30 years, Montego Records, LLC has dedicated itself to providing a repertoire of original music to celebrate the spirit and soul of genuine Reggae singers and musicians. Whether one enjoys traditional Roots Reggae, Dancehall, or something contemporary and unusual, there is something for everyone in the Montego Records Music Catalogue.

Berkeley, CA ~ Peter Tosh’s Birthday Celebration Saturday, October 19 - Junior Toots, Bogle Dread, Jah Warri, Phat Luv
Annual Rastafarian Celebration of Peter Tosh’s Birthday at The Ashkenaz in Berkeley on Saturday, October 19 Features Three Live Reggae Acts including Reggae Crooner Junior Toots, Plus Rare Films, Nyabinghi Drumming and more.

Out Of Many One Productions presents the Peter Tosh Birthday Celebration on Saturday, October 19 on what would have been Peter Tosh’s 80th birthday. This 37th installment of this Bay Area tradition will be held at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. The doors are at 7:30pm and activities will start at 8pm. Tickets are $20 at the door.

Attendees will enjoy rare footage of Peter Tosh’s early life. Music will be provided by Toots Maytal’s son: Junior Toots, also Bogle Dread and Jah Warri.
JUST ADDED: PHAT LUV

The Out Of Many One Nyabinghi Drummers will also be performing ceremonial Rastafarian drumming and chanting.

Peter Tosh, the “Stepping Razor”, was a Rastafarian, and in keeping with his beliefs, the entire event will be performed by Rastafarian practitioners. The public is welcome to come and enjoy this pure “Rasta” celeb.

Acclaimed international roots-reggae crooner, Junior Toots has been a mainstay in the recorded and live music scene for decades and with an ever-growing fanbase. He’s managed to captivate audiences worldwide with his electrifying high-energy stage performance, soul-filled vocals and socially charged lyricism, along with catchy, singalong Jamaican-rooted original tracks.

Also performing are Bogle Dread and Jah Warri.

Event producer, Carlton Campbell, who is also Peter Tosh’s cousin and toured with him extensively in the 80’s, keeps the fire burning for Tosh’s music and message by producing this annual event. Campbell says, “We have celebrated Peter Tosh’s birthday one way or the other since his passing in 1987. Some of the celebrations have been huge concerts and others were more intimate. This year, we are excited to be able to share rare film footage of Peter Tosh.”

The Peter Tosh Foundation in Jamaica is also holding Tosh Fest on the same day, as the Berkeley, CA event, as part of a new initiative aimed at addressing disparities in the reggae legend’s hometown of Belmont, Bluefields- Westmoreland.

The Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center is located at 1317 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, CA. This is all- ages event. $20 tickets are available in advance online or at the door. GET TIX HERE
