REGGAE FESTIVAL GUIDE CAUGHT UP WITH ELIHU TO FIND OUT MORE...
Q: What is your song writing process:
A: Many different ways. For example, if I am listening to a track; if I am hired to put voice and lyrics on it...the track speaks to me. I listen to it and it tells me what kind of song and lyrics.
Another way that I am inspired is by a real-life situation and I go right in. Sometimes it takes a long time until I really feel it, feel that it is ready between me and heart; sometimes it goes quickly. Or sometimes, like on BROKEN SILENCE, I get a line or a phrase, and I develop this. Finding lyrics is a spiritual thing.
Q. How many albums have you released in your career so far?
A: I have done seven albums but BROKEN SILENCE is the one that really fully manifested itself and exceeded all of our expectations. From conception to release — it took a long time, honestly about almost 8 years. I had the title, but it was slow process to figure out in which direction I wanted to go.
Q. 17 tracks seems like is a lot of songs for an album, do you agree?
A: It is...but everything we do is out of the box. We do things according to our journey and purpose, not what the industry standards are. Another out of the box move is that we went to India to record On Your Side of Town to explore my East Indian ancestry. As I learn more about myself, my background, I can put more of myself into my music.
.
The album is 100% good, conscious reggae music; the lyrics and rhythms will appeal to children, adults and even world leaders.

ELIHU video PRINCE OF LOVER'S ROCK The Jamaican singer/songwriter was known to his US fanbase as the ‘Prince of Lover’s Rock’ however his name ‘Elihu’ was a biblical one. ‘Elihu’ refers to a man in the Bible who always spoke the truth. In 2016 he released his first EP called ‘The Evolution of Courtney Elihu Morris’ consisting of seven (7) tracks inclusive of ‘God of Israel’, ‘How Yuh Cold Suh’ and ‘Got to Be Me’, to name a few. The EP was a success in Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada, building him a more diverse fanbase. His music is authentic roots rock reggae that speaks to several social issues plaguing Jamaicans. Elihu's love for reggae music resonates through his music. He said “Reggae is so powerful. To me, reggae is more than a genre of music, it is a lifestyle”. Elihu wants to be known for his mellow tone and lyrical prowess.
Elihu is backed by the Andrew Bassie All Star Band. They will be touring in support of the new album. The band consists of Andrew “Bassie” Campbell (bass); Luke Jackson aka “Fyah Luke” (drummer); Claude Reynolds aka "Trending" (keyboards); Akemo Antonio Elliott aka “Frass” (keyboards); and Fitz Livermore aka “Favorite” (guitarist).

Ah, December, that time of year when storefronts are festooned with holiday decorations, and another year is reaching its close.
But, what does the word December mean in the dictionary? And, where did the 12th month of the year get its name?
What is December named for?
December has marked the end of the year and the coming of winter since the ancient Romans established their first calendar. As its etymology indicates, December is formed from the Latin root decem- which means “ten” … but December is our twelfth month. The strange numbering discrepancy is also present for the months of September, October, and November, which reference “seven,” “eight,” and “nine,” even though they’re our ninth, tenth, and eleventh months.
Why? Well, the ancient Roman calendar only had ten months in the year, beginning with the month of March. January and February were eventually added after December to the end of the year. But, by the time the Julian calendar was established in 45 BCE, January and February appeared at the beginning of the year, which bumped all of the original months (and their originally assigned names) back by two.
What are the older names for December?
Before December entered Old English, the names Ǣrra Gēola or Gēolmōnað, meaning “yule month,” were used. The early Germanic people referred to this wintry season as yuletide, a two-month period that spanned December and January. Geōl means “Christmas day” or “Christmastide” (a word for the period from Christmas Eve to related feast days in early January).
Geōl is related to the Old Norse jōl, the name of the Pagan winter feast lasting 12 days. Many of the customs of the feast of yule influenced the ways that Christmas is celebrated, such as the tradition of burning a yule log at Christmastime. Fun fact: the word jolly may have derived from the same Old Norse root that brought us yule.
What do we celebrate in December? If you’re facing another cold winter, celebrating the winter solstice, Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, or New Year’s Eve is sure to lift your “bah humbug” spirits! As you revel in the season, you might wonder what the different names for Santa Claus are or what figgy pudding is, or what Boxing Day (December 26) actually is.
If you’re also celebrating a birthday in December, you might be a Sagittarius (born before December 22) and known as a trailblazer or an innovator.
