News of the Upcoming IBC in Memphis
The  Blues Foundation's ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL BLUES CHALLENGE IN MEMPHIS, Jan. 7-11, 2025! Every year, Ozark Blues Society has sent volunteers to help run the massive event which takes place in every venue up and down Beale Street. This year, our Vice President Diane Rudolph is playing drums in the house band for the Women in Blues Showcase on Thursday, Jan 9th. On the other days of the event, she'll be working as an at-large volunteer for the competition. We don't yet know what her assignment will be, but she'll be reporting back to us every day.

Every year since 2003, OBS has sponsored a band and solo/duo act, and a Best Self-Produced CD submission to compete in this high-profile event that lasts 4 days. And every year we have sent volunteers to run venues, manage stages, and assist in the IBC HQ.  There is on average about 250 competitors each year.  OBS has had bands and solo/duo artists go to the Semi-Finals and the Finals.  They know who we are in Memphis, that's for sure. This year we are sending these artists and this CD:
  • BATTERTON & EDWARDS - Use this link and enjoy getting to know our Duo Artists Competitor.  They were phenomenal at our Blues Challenge, and we are so excited for the judges and attendees to hear and see them. We have every expectation they're going to do very well in the competition! Send them an email or comment on their Facebook page, and let them know you're cheering for them! Here's their performance on the Good Day NWA tv show -- Ozark Blues Society-Batterton & Edwards
  • BLUES CITY LIMITS This group of players competed strongly at our Blues Challenge, and are now on their way to Memphis. We're extremely confident they will do well, not only with the judges, but with the festival bookers and music biz people who will be in attendance. Reach out to them and let them know you support them and wish them every success! Here's the video of their performance on the Good Day NWA tv show - Ozark Blues Society - Blues City Limits
  • BUDDY SHUTE-Best Self Produced CD - Here's your link to get to know Buddy Shute -- but who doesn't know Buddy already!? He's a Memphis Blues singer/songwriter, and has been based here in NWA for many, many years. OBS is extremely proud to have submitted his latest CD to the Blues Foundation's competition. Support Buddy and buy his CD, and let him know how much you appreciate his music!

If you weren't able to attend our Bound for Beale Fundraiser last month, you can use the funding link below. BATTERTON & EDWARDS and BLUES CITY LIMITS are psyched to get to Memphis to compete at the International Blues Challenge in January. We'll be reporting their Memphis stories, so stay tuned!

Kudos, Kudos, and More Kudos
As we approach the end of 2024, let's send out our great appreciation to those who have made this a successful, motivating year for the Ozark Blues Society of NWA.
  • We especially send KUDOS to all of our members, volunteers, newsletter subscribers, and event attendees. Without you, there would be no possible way to present events and provide news of our activities.
  • KUDOS to our Board Members: Liz Lottmann, president; Diane Rudolph, vice president, Doug Myles, treasurer; Dawn Cate, secretary, and the Board of Directors members Kenny Hackman, Juergen Lottmann, Kayla Hiett, Michael Hiett, and Roger Thomas.
  • Very Special KUDOS to our Board Advisor, Steve Carter, who will be essential in our  2025 planning.
  • Very Special KUDOS to our website designer, Dave Barfield, who has been there for us night and day as we develop and perfect our online presence.
All in all, we have an incredible organization, and without all of you, it just wouldn't be possible! Kudos and thanks!!!
