Hey all.
Fun session last week! Thanks to all who came. And thanks to those who contributed goodies!
Here's a shout out to Debbie Meitin who just came back from an important JNF trip to Israel. So proud of the work JNF does and so proud of the work that Debbie does for them! Kol hakavod Debbie! Oh, and btw, who did she bump into at Ben Gurion Airport - Michael Barzelai on his way to camp Machol Pura Vida in Costa Rica!
Small Israeli dance world! (BTW, Debbie, I hope it was ok for me to tell that story 😊)
And while I am it, big thanks to Yonit, Debbie, and Romi for helping out with our CID zooms. They all make a big difference. Toda Raba!!!
Grateful for the returns of hostages! Praying that the rest will be returned safely as quickly as possible.
Praying that the ceasefire in the North of Israel will actually work and lead to security and return of people to their homes! And praying that the events in Syria will work out well for the Syrian people and for the Israeli people. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks to Sarah for leading the early part of the evening. And to Nina for teaching and David for helping out, and Nehama for demoing last week! 😊
Speaking of Nina's teaching, here is what Hila Mukdasi wrote to me after I let her know that we learned her dance last week: "Good job! Nina and the dancers as well 👏🏼👏🏼 It’s really exciting to watch it, thank you so much for teaching and for sharing! I’m looking forward to dancing with you all my dances and in general of course!
I know that the transition is challenging but practicing from time to time will help 😉"

The 50th Anniversary of Chicago Israeli Dancing is commemorated through our special t-shirt design. This design blends several key themes:

Colorful Circular Rings: These rings draw colors from the Machol Merkaz logo and abstractly represent a vinyl record, paying homage to the media we were using for Israeli dance music in the 1970s.

Great news! Machol Manhattan is dancing in its new home, Manhattan Country School - 150 W 85th St - on Thursday from 7:30-11:30pm.
MCS is between Columbus Ave and Amsterdam Ave, closer to Amsterdam. It is about mid-way between the 1 train and the B and C trains (a bit closer to the 1) at their respective 86th St stations.
When you arrive, the outer doors will be unlocked. If you arrive prior to 9:15pm, there will be someone at the security desk to let you into the inner door. After 9:15, you have to contact a dancer inside to let you in. The gym is one flight up the grand marble staircase. If needed, there is also an elevator. A bathroom is available on the first floor straight in from the entrance; there is a single use bathroom adjacent to the gym as well, and a water fountain.
Beginner teaching and dancing as usual from 7:30-8:15pm, immediately followed by intermediate-advanced dancing and teaching until 11:30pm.

OUR INDOOR SESSIONS ARE OPEN ONLY TO THOSE WHO ARE NOT SICK. (IF YOU ARE, PLEASE STAY HOME). MASKS ARE OPTIONAL.
COST: $17 on non-party nights. $20 ON PARTY NIGHTS!!!
WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU ARRIVE - Enter the building from the parking lot on the west side of the building. Ring the bell and wait to be buzzed in to the inner door. At that point please identify yourself as a dancer and you will be admitted to the building. Please go straight ahead and then down the stairs to the Weiner Room, our dance space (and adjacent to the washrooms we use.) PLEASE DO NOT AT ANY TIME GO TO ANY OTHER PART OF THE BUILDING.
IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER 10:30 WE MAY NOT NOTICE YOU TO LET YOU IN. IF THAT HAPPENS, TRY TEXTING OR WHATSAPPING PHIL AT 312.519.8669, AND PLEASE BE PATIENT. (IF YOU WANT TO CATCH MY ATTENTION DURING THE SESSION, WHATSAPP IS BY FAR YOUR BEST BET. EVERYTHING ELSE IS PRETTY MUCH HIT OR MISS.)

Dear IFD Camp/Workshop Directors of the Americas (North, Central, and South)
Our friend Nona Malki approached me and asked if I would be willing to set up a WhatsApp group for all of us. (I said yes 😊) In particular, she wanted to make it easy for us to share dates regarding events we are planning, specifically with the intent of avoiding inadvertent date conflicts. While we are all aware that there are ways to publicize our dates once we have them (e.g. JewishAustralia, Rokdim, Facebook, etc.), some of us don’t always have access to these sites or we simply forget to check. So, at the moment, we don’t have an interactive way to reach out to each other to discuss events/dates we are contemplating.
Please join this group and let’s use it to communicate with each other. Of course, feel free to use this group to discuss things that you think will be of interest to your fellow leaders. And please let Phil know who else should be added to the group.
