Thanks to everybody that is helping make the third quarter BREAK Magazine a success and a reality! Thank you, Rovella Williams; outside of launching your Almost Famous Zine and planning your third year anniversary, you took the time to make our cover story for Young Capone a reality, and Dorma Davis with So So Def for making the calls and making sure that the interview happened, and giving us the exclusive for So So Def's Most Wanted.   Also shout out to upcoming ATL rapper Cheeto Gambine, thanks for supporting BREAK Magazine, we have something big for you as well!

You know I have to drop a tip or two, as I love to talk about PR, a lot of artist and people in the industry spend countless hours befriending and working with publicists, when in fact we are our first publicist. W hen we live a public life, all of our actions are open to public scrutiny and the conversations we have become industry news (gossip). So the most important PR rule is to only deliver the news you want out there; in the media and in life, you are in control of the way that others perceive you and how you handle the news delivered to you . You can continue to perpetuate the "garbage" given to you or you can toss it like the "garbage" it is. If you don't, you willing get caught up in the mix of other people's shit.   If you are anything you like me you get a lot of calls and at the end of the call you hang up and think “You called me just to say that?” lol…. I’m guilty of it myself, so the change starts with ME!

Now for more shot outs, DIVADEND Entertainment, congratulations to you and your clients for your 6 year celebration including   BREAK, Jeremy Miller (SOURCE, DOWN Magazine) Chris Thomas (GRIP Magazine), Robert Cheesborough (ODS Magazine), Grandaddy Souf, Chopper Citty Boyz, Jason Dinsmore, and DJ Daz Duice, and Shots out to Legion of Doom! EMEKA
Regarded as one of Nashville’s best-kept secrets, this young MC’s unique sound has been garnering just as much attention as his inimitable name. Tennessee raised and reared, Emeka claims to do what few artists in today’s hip-hop game are able to. He asserts that it is his ability to creatively fuse polar aspects of hip-hop into one sound that is the real appeal to his audience. With comparisons emerging to the likes of Common with his intentional play on words, and the genius of Ludacris with his uncanny creativity, Emeka has already began to garner international attention on the underground mix-tape circuit. You can catch his hot new single “I’m Fresh”, produced by Ant Lew, on a number of indie internet radio stations or on

HIP HOP HEADLINES

Forever the man on the move, this past Wednesday Chris “Ludacris” Bridges hosted his 4th Annual Ludacris Foundation Gala at the Apparel Mart ballroom in downtown Atlanta. Named as one of the top 20 “Leading Philanthropy Foundations” by Black Enterprise Magazine, the gala brought out such stars as Def Jam President Kevin Lyles, NBA great Alonzo Mourning, Actress Kenya Moore, DTP artist Chingy, and Def Jam founder Russell Simmons all in support of raising funds and awareness towards the foundation’s community outreach and special initiatives.

The night began with a private VIP reception before rolling into dinner and silent auction. Guests were treated to special musical performances throughout, along with, the always on point sounds of DJ DNice. This invitation only affair ended with guest being treated to a late start Casino Night where they partied the evening away all for a worthy cause.

THE SHOP BOYZ
Atlanta-based recording trio, Shop Boyz, have landed the millennium’s newest street-worthy honor with the #1 ringtone in the U.S. - “Party Like A Rockstar”. The breakout club-banger has gained unforeseen success, and can be heard in boardrooms and VIP rooms alike through the magic of mp3-enhanced technology.

The infectious single has rocketed to the top of urban radio, and become an all-time record breaker for the nation’s leading ringtone distributors and wireless carriers in a feat virtually unprecedented for an artist without a debut album yet completed.

The south has made no mistake in taking their claim in the influence of hip-hop in recent years. “Party Like A Rockstar” was the second most added single during the week of its release in early April 2007.
