Greetings Lovelies!
Why Does Love Hurt?
During this time of love and no love we may stop, scratch our head, and
ask
"why does love hurt?" Why does something that is suppose to be so
wonderful... something we are all looking for, end up being painful?
I have thought long and hard on this topic and then, once again, turned to
the Sutras to help guide my way. When I have attended Sutra discussions
and the topic of love came up, the room went silent, "Finally the answer
to all my questions". You could hear a pin drop. And then it comes ...
Love with conditions will always hurt. Love with expectations and rules,
inevitably leads us to disappointment. Pure love is incapable of causing
us pain.
So how can we practice such an alien concept? If I am looking for my
significant other how can I not have conditions and expectations?
Unconditional love is sometimes thought of as a raw deal ...what's in it
for me? If we look more deeply perhpaps what we are really getting is
freedom and the opportunity to experience total acceptance. We are given
freedom from the mind's expectations and endless disappointment. In
return we are becoming a vessel for pure, un-needy love. Now that's
attractive!
So , can we love a friend, family member or significant other for exactly
who they are without the need to change them? Can we love for love sake
without needing it to do something for us? Can we apply more love when we
feel the familiar desire to make someone love us they way we think it
should be?
What a freeing idea to be able to tell someone you love him or her without
needing to hear it back. Love for love sake. What a concept! Whether it
"works out" or not you have expressed your truth, your love and no one can
take that from you.
So, maybe it isn't love that hurts after all, but our expectations of it
that cause us pain. In fact if pain rises maybe it isn't love at all.
Remember, Pure love is incapable of causing us pain ... hmm that changes
things a bit.
Sounds like a difficult concept to practice...but after years of saying
"why does love hurt?" ...it might be worth a try.
All My Love, Always,
Paula

Thought you might want to know a little bit more...
This section offers inspired words from
people and healers who would like to share their
experience.
"Understanding Love and Relationships
Through Venus and Mars"
by Taylor Kim
Whether we're yogis looking for a life partner or in a life partnership,
astrology can help us understand how we give love and best receive
love--the reason for our compatibility or incompatibility with lovers,
friends and family. In knowing this about ourselves and others, we don't
force our limitations but foster our gifts.
To start, our natal chart--the snapshot of the sky and planets at the time
and place of your birth--shows us on many levels how our lives may play
out. Venus and Mars are two planets in the natal chart that influence
love and relationships, among other things, in our lives.
Venus
Venus represents how we receive love, how we feel most fulfilled in
receiving love.
In a man, it represents what he thinks is beautiful--the type of woman
he'll be attracted to--and how he wants to experience sensuality, to
receive love.

Raw Chocolate LOVE!!
Living in the beautiful Topanga Canyon in California was most
definitely one of the best
times of my life ... simply looking out the window would say it all.
Healthy eating and living is something that has always been a part of
who I am.
Living
in such a natural environment and around so many health conscious
people only led to further discovery and a deeper knowing and
understanding of our earth's treasures. A rockin Saturday night often
included a special treat we liked
to call Raw Chocolate Love.
(Geeks, I tell you...geeks!). anyway,
it's a crazy concoction that's both tasty and
super healthy. go on, give it a try... you deserve it!
All of the ingredients should be added to taste.
coconut oil (solidified) (about 1 tbsp)
raw cocoa nibs (about 3 tbsp)
agave necter (about 1 tbsp)
a splash (1 to 3 drops) of peppermint oil to taste
maca root powder (about 1 tsp)
Mush ingredients together in a small bowl. I stick it in the freezer
for about a half hour, just to get a good texture. you need to really
play
with the ingredients to get the taste you want but it's a bittery-
chocolatey-coconuty-minty-mush that will serve you! have fun with it!

What those who are in the know what to know
This section will feature what is cutting
edge in the world of healing, fitness, nutrition and more.
February brings us Valentines Day.... like it or not. No matter your
situation, many of us turn to some sort of sweets, including
chocolate. So we wanted to let you know about the raw goodness of
chocolate.
Literally!
Chocolate is made from cacao (cocoa) beans. In their
natural, unprocessed state, they are rich in nutrients and very
beneficial to our health! The literal translation for chocolate
is...food of the gods. Of course it is! Cacao nibs are filled with
vitamins, minerals, beta-carotene, zinc, chromium and magnesium. Cacao
powder is a good source of minerals as well...such as magnesium, iron,
copper and calcium. new studies have shown that cacao contains more
antioxidant flavonoids than blueberries, red wine
and green tea.
Though the taste is much different than your ordinary
heart shaped box of sweets, it's nutritional value makes it well
worth experimenting with a new taste! I personally dislike the taste
and even the scent of sweetened chocolate. candy form, cake, ice
cream...you name it. But I do like raw chocolate! I add cacao nibs or
powder in fruit smoothies i make at home. a scoop of maca powder
can't hurt either !! (more on maca next month!)
So when wallowing in
my lonely sorrows...I will be snacking on cacao nibs... or...
whipping up
some.... Raw Chocolate LOVE!! (go to recipe section for details!)....
