Welcome from New Chair
Hello! My name is
David
Pratt. I am the new ATE Technology in Teaching and Learning SIG
Chairperson. I wanted to start a monthly email newsletter as a way
to keep
in touch. This month, I will mainly be sharing my own links and what
I
consider important events. For the next newsletter, I am
hoping that
you come up with the links and content. While you are
thinking of
it, send a great link or upcoming event and share it with the rest of the
SIG by
emailing it to me at
user@example.com. Also, if you would like to share any
stories or
tips of technology used in the classroom I will include those as
well.

I am just beginning to see the impact that video can have on the classroom
and I
have a great example to share. I showed this to all my tech
classes
and also used it for a technology conference held at our school. I'm
actually thinking about having my graduate students create their own
movies
instead of writing research papers. We are a PC university and I'm
not
very happy with Windows free MovieMaker. Does anyone have any other
recommendations of a program that can do something similar?

Pay Attention
Webinars?
If you need an easy and relatively inexpensive way to keep in touch with
the
latest technology applications to your classroom, try a Web Seminar or
"Webinar".
ISTE has been hosting these online web conferences approximately once a
month.
They are about an hour in duration and fairly interactive as they provide
time
for questions. The cost is usually around $50 and includes a
book.
The next seminar is scheduled for May 15th and the topic is on interactive
video
uses in the classroom.
Check out the full schedule of
Webinars here!
Again, please send in your ideas for the next newsletter so we can all
keep up
to date in connected as a SIG!
