"Enthralling...Ms. Joya is a truly remarkable
subject." - Mike Hale, The New York
Times ENEMIES OF
HAPPINESS tells the story of 27 year-old Malalai Joya - an extraordinary,
outspoken woman, a folk hero and a women's rights activist - who (despite
four assassination attempts) was elected to the newly formed democratic
parliament in Afghanistan in 2005. Recently suspended from her seat for
harshly criticizing the parliament, Joya continues to struggle for the
rights of the people of Afghanistan. Last month, the TV version of this
film, A WOMAN AMONG THE WARLORDS, was broadcast to acclaim on the PBS
series WIDE ANGLE.
