Tax time. That
time of year when you should be getting your W2s in the mail and start
thinking about filing your taxes. The most important part of this
is to start by having a file with all your information in it. It
will help you know where everything is and make sure you don’t miss
anything.
This is especially helpful if you are
going to e-file. Everything with e-filing should be faster and
easier, but don’t forget without the necessary paperwork…it will become a
digital disaster. Remember this year when you itemize your
deductions, you can claim your real estate tax on your home. Last
year the IRS said it would allow you to claim real estate tax even if
you don’t itemize.
The IRS encourages you to really try
and e-file your tax returns. For them, of course, there’s less
paper, it’s done immediately and an e-file has to be perfect before it’s
sent through, so it’s easier to catch any mistakes. The IRS really
wants everyone to file electronically.
