Today,
you are either a coffee drinker or a tea drinker. There
could be no more evidence of this than finding a Starbucks
at the Great Wall in China, in the back lanes of Beihai
Park and at the Forbidden City. This, amid a country
of tea drinkers! As we traveled China this year for
our cultural tour, we were all astounded by these new
landmarks. To be sure, there were not many Chinese people
in these Starbucks and here is a reason for that.
The
ritual of tea drinking is, very simply, a labor of love
and provides great wealth to the health of the body.
It is drunk as a beverage, but from the Buddhist point
of view there is more to it than the physical refreshment
we receive. As an elixir of sobriety and wakeful tranquility,
tea remains a means of spiritual refreshment. The ritual
of preparing and partaking of it is an occasion for
spiritual awakening. Coffee on the other hand, offers
no such benefit.

As
you look to make your home safe and less toxic, budget concerns
can quickly come to the forefront. Therefore, if you must
choose only one room, the bedroom — where your defenseless
mind, body and spirit re-fuel — is an ideal choice.
A safe and non-toxic sleep environment can contribute to
deep and restful sleep, offering numerous benefits and overall
comfort. As you sleep, your body mounts energy for the new
dawn, creating power to function and thrive the following
day. Of greatest concern in the bedroom are the many fabrics
that may contain volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

to the Heart
Imagine
a darkness so intense that you get completely lost and inundated
by it a darkness where sound and silence are the same this
is the place the melting pot of all there is, out of these
darkness comes inspirations, memories, ancient visions and
healing. This is the place of creation the laboratory of
the self.
I enter
the darkness by covering my eyes with a bandana and completely
surrender to the process that I was going to get into, the
music started it was powerful and hypnotic, the type of
music that makes you go deep within, my body responded to
it a spontaneous way moving undulating sensually and feeling
it all over my body, everything started tingling I felt
like I was entering into a very sacred space that sacred
space was being created by the breathing, the Trance Dance
breath; two deep inhalations and one exhalation. This type
of breathing and the music started pushing me into a beautiful
altered state of consciousness where the music became alive,
the floor became a canvas of my creation, not only I was
dancing but I was painting a picture as I was responding
spontaneously to my feelings and emotions.

Healthy
Eating with the Seasons
Seasons
form the natural backdrop for eating. For ecologists,
seasons are considered a source of natural diversity.
Changes in growing conditions from spring to summer
or fall to winter are considered essential for balancing
the earth's resources and its life forms.
Eating
in the Fall
In
fall, turn toward the more warming, autumn harvest
foods, including carrot, sweet potato, onions, and
garlic. Also emphasize the more warming spices and
seasonings including ginger, peppercorns, and mustard
seeds.
Cocoa The
Food of the Gods
By Christopher Cumo
Chocolate
is more than just a tasty treat. With an enticing
– even addicting – flavor, cocoa is gifted
to us from the beans of the cacao tree, which is indigenous
to Central and South America.
ancient
chocolate making in Mexico
Over
1,500 years ago, the Mayans cultivated and worshipped
this tree and thus dubbed it “cacao” meaning
“god food.”
