COOKIE OF THE MONTH |
Mmm, it's dificult to put
into words how absolutely delicious our Butter Pecan Cookie is in your
mouth! As always, we start with creamery butter for extra yummy richness,
but the final ingredients are what makes these so unique--toasted pecans,
toffee bits, and butterscotch chips. Betcha can't find a cookie like
this very easily! They're one of the most unique cookies we've ever
created and we think you'll agree, they may have to become an item on our
regular menu! |

LEMON SUGAR KICKED UP A NOTCH FOR
SPRING! |
|
Everyone who tastes our
Lemon Sugar Cookie falls madly in love with it. It's just one of those
cookies you can't stop eating! Light, buttery, and lemony all in the same
bite. The perfect cookie for spring. We decided to jazz them up for
spring a bit so instead of rolling them in clear sugar crystals, we're
dressing them up in a pretty pastel pink for April! Fun and festive,
don't you think? |

WE WON, WE WON!! |
In our last newsletter, we
mentioned that Blue Ridge Baking Company was proud to participate in two
local fundraisers here in Waynesville--A Taste of Chocolate and Melange in
the Mountains. When we entered, it was our intention to support a good
cause and hopefully gain some awareness of our business here in town.
What we didn't expect was to WIN THIRD PLACE in the professional category
of Taste of Chocolate for our Chocolate Peppermint Cookies! You would
have thought we had won the most revered culinary award of all time, given
my reaction as I received the medal. Our highest compliment is always our
customers expressing how much they love our cookies, but to win something
for them feels pretty darn good too! We've always wanted to say we offer
"award winning cookies," and now we can claim just that!

PAIGEY LOU |
|
This is a recent photo of
my daughter, Paige. I was preparing her lunch one afternoon when I turned
around to find her in the refrigerator, eating the remains of a chocolate
pie we had for dessert the night before! As soon as she realized she had
been caught, she gave me this forlorn look, her eyes begging me not to
take it away from her! The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree--she's a
chocoholic like both of her parents at the tender age of 16
months!
I fall in love all
over again with my children whenever they enter a new stage of
development, but right now, Paige has me falling harder than usual. I
love watching her wheels turn as she rapidly increases her
vocabulary, love holding her chubby little hand in mine while she goes
down for a nap, love watching her playing with Aidan (they do start
fighting over toys young though, don't they!?), and especially love
walking into her room in the morning to start a new day with her. If only
I could stop the clock.

SPRING HAS SPRUNG! |
Whew, it feels like summer
and it's barely spring! We've had some record highs here in Waynesville
the past week or so and I was briefly tempted to turn on my air
conditioning one afternoon! The photo is a Weeping Cherry tree we have in
our front yard. It produces the most delicate pink blooms--they just don't
last long enough. I hope the weather and colors are just as beautiful
wherever you call home.
If you're local or are visiting
Waynesville in April, check out the season's first play at our award
winning community theatre, Haywood Arts Regional Theatre (HART). It's
entitled Metamorphoses and sounds like a winner. While you're there,
enjoy a cookie from Blue Ridge Baking Company in the concession area. We
are proud to work in conjunction with the theatre to offer people a taste
of heaven while they enjoy a night out on the town!
Happy
Easter and Happy Spring! |
