MEMPHIS : : Memphis
Memphis Formed In 1998.The Six-Piece Reggae Band From The West Midlands Has Begun To Make Headway In Their Quest For National Recognition. Voted By The ‘ IDM BLACK MUSIC AWARDS’ As The Most Promising Newcomers, Winners Of The Midland 99 Battle Of The Bands’ Competition, A Feature On The Midland’s Vol.4 Cd Compilation Album, Numerous ‘Benefit Gigs’ And Positive Newspaper And Radio Coverage Has Bought Them Interested Parties.

The Band Strives To Incorporate Their Own Individual Sound, Integrating The Sound Of Reggae With Their Musical Inspiration From Other Styles I.E Mighty Diamonds, The Verve, Curtis Mayfield, Aswad, Simple Minds, Morgan Heritage, Third World, The Intention Was To Create An Inspiration Group That Would Bring With It A Sense Of Newness Coupled With A Touch Of Inspiration From The Reggae Bygone Years.

Their Songs Are Original and asa rule There Is Unification Within The Band To Create And Develop Their Own Style And Material. When Performing ‘Live’ The Emphasis Is On Energy As Well As Leaving The Audience With An Impact. This Has Given Them a following of regulars at their gigs.

They Have Decided To Name Themselves After An Empire That Once Existed In Africa (Not The American State As Most Or Us Would Initially Believe). As Co-Vocalist Keith Explains “A Lot Of People Are Uninformed About The Name Memphis And Are Unaware That It Existed In Africa Long Before The Day Of Colonisation.

OUTLAW NATION : : New Day
OUTLAW NATION' CD 'NEW DAY" is a musical journey across many, many styles of music that all line the streets on the FRENCH QUARTER on a nightly basis!!! You can smell the deep swamp southern spices in the songs as they creep into your soul and make you want to jump out of your seat and dance the night away!! The band has toured with the likes of: 311, Ziggy Marley, Toots and The Maytals, Slightly Stoopid, Fishbone, Blues Traveler and more!

It has been said that this band could truly be the next coming of SUBLIME in many ways, Christian Simeon' songwriting, vocals and guitar playing are rock solid like a 100 mile per hour hurricane wind and the drum and bass lines stand heavy against it like a 300 year old Swamp Ash Tree! "NEW DAY' features plenty of star power as well with guest appearances by Angelo Moore of FISHBONE, Miles Doughty, C Money and O.G. of SLIGHTLY STOOPD as well as DAVE WAKELING from the 1980's super star ska pop band THE ENGLISH BEAT. The record's supervising mix engineer was non other than super star knob tweeker Michael "Miguel" Happoldt the producer of all the SUBLIME hits. This CD is a definite mover in every sense of the word!!

OUTLAW NATION - NEW DAY will be released on STOOPID RECORDS/Controlled Substance Sound Labs/RED MUSIC. The independent label ran by super independent band SLIGHTLY STOOPID. OUTLAW NATION' talent for making musical gumbo has gained them a rock solid fan base across the country.

ROOTZ UNDERGROUND : : Rootz Underground Alive
Revolution reggae music - edgy, raw, natural, roots... They are Rootz Underground. That is their sound.

Synergy is a beautiful thing to witness and when delivered onstage with a raw energy live and direct its even more captivating. Its this synergy that has brought Rootz Underground forward across the last nine years of the bands journey from small underground club shows in Kingston at venues such as The Village Café and Red Bones all the way to the largest stages in Jamaica including Sunsplash, Rebel Salute, Welcome to Jamrock, Reggaelution, Sumfest and Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues repeatedly. The band consists of six core members that have been placed together through fate and friendship along the road of life in Jamaica with music as the common ground. Rootz Underground is Stephen Newland (lead vocals), Jeffrey Moss-Solomon (rhythm guitar, vocals), Colin Young (bass), Leon Campbell (drums), Paul Smith (keyboards, vocals) and Charles Lazarus (lead guitar).

Rootz Underground has been blessed to be able to be amongst the return and rise of the band format coming out of Jamaica, at a time when dancehall and hip-hop are in the forefront they found themselves as a group performing lyrically conscious original ‘roots’ reggae music. Over the last decade they have won their fans and the respect of their contemporaries one explosive show at a time. It is with this ability to engage and hypnotize that Rootz Underground has set out on the tour trail, traveling through the Caribbean, North America and Hawaii in an effort to carry the message of upliftment, positivity and oneness. The year 2008 saw them touring America extensively on joint bills with foundation powerhouses such as Gregory Isaacs, Israel Vibration, The Wailing Souls, Dean Fraser as well as acts such as Anthony B and Tarrus Riley.

The future is wide open with a heavy load of goals that have been set by the band who are constantly looking forward, 2009 will see the release of the second studio album entitled “GRAVITY” as well as touring focus on Europe and South America. Also in an effort to get the live vibration on stage out there faster than they can even travel the band is offering a full length live CD for free which can be downloaded from the E-store of their website, the album is titled “ALIVE” and was recorded on the “Reggae Train Tour” Fall 08 across America.

IN THE NAME OF THE MOST HIGH

May we discover through pain and torment,
the strength to live with grace and humor.
May we discover through doubt and anguish, the strength to live with dignity and holiness. May we discover through suffering and fear, the strength to move toward healing. May it come to pass that we be restored to health and to vigor. May Life grant us wellness of body, spirit, and mind.  And if this cannot be so, may we find in this transformation and passage moments of meaning, opportunities for love and the deep and gracious calm that comes when we allow ourselves to move on.

- Rabbi Rami M. Shapiro
