Hi there,
I write to you on Thanksgiving Eve. The crew is gradually drifting off, having cooked and presented and packaged and sent out dinners for countless folks all over our region. It’s been quite a day for everyone and I know they are all grateful to have tomorrow in the quiet of their own homes not to mention Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off.
Me too, though I have not done nearly as much as they have.
I overheard a funny comment yesterday which, I have decided, is my new mantra. I was with my sister at FIG, the restaurant where she is the manager. A man and woman were sitting across the room discussing Thanksgiving food. Here’s how the conversation went. He was telling her about his favorites and said, “I’m a creature of habit.”
I KNOW he said that, but I heard him say, “I am a creature of havoc.”
HA!
That, my friends, perfectly describes my days right now. Still messing around with treatments and opinions and such. ON we go.
Seriously, I am looking forward to seeing my family for the next couple of days. And then I’m going to be glad to come home. Always nice to leave and, best of all, delightful to come home to my life here, my woodstove, my friends, and my work family.
Say! Guess what???!!!
It is true! I am in this week’s People Magazine! (Just look for the current issue, the one about the murdered family…yes – true) and inside there is a big story about the butternut squash soup from The Fresh Honey Cookbook.
Can’t say as I’ve ever known anyone who was in People magazine. And, as I mentioned, my publisher says that 3.2 million people read People! That’s a LOT of People people. Holy mazoley.
Okey doke friends. I’m off to get a couple of things for dinner tomorrow and then I need to go get some new pajamas and then I might start making Christmas cards and Christmas presents. And Tye and I have a movie or two to watch. We’ll start a nice fire in the woodstove and snuggle in, hunker down for a warm night together.
Enjoy your day and your weekend. We’ll see you on Monday. (and can we find a different name for the day after Thanksgiving? Black Friday is just, well, not so, well, nice sounding, know what I mean? Let’s start a new name. Maybe shoppers’ fun day. (Because if it is not fun, I say why do it!
Bye for now. I’ll get some pictures to show you after my family weekend.
