Moving Subscribers Between Accounts
About This Feature
MNB allows users to integrate and move subscribers between accounts in several ways. In addition to transferring active subscribers, you probably want to consider using the same opt-out/suppression list from the original account. This tutorial will show you how to do both.
How to Use This Feature
[+] Export lists
We will export both the active subscriber lists and the unsubscribed list. To start, log into the account that contains the active subscriber lists. Click “Subscribers.” To export by each subscriber group separately (recommended), click the name of a group, and click “Export All” on the next page. You will get a popup box asking you if you wish to open or save the file. Click “Save” and choose a location to save to, or check your default downloads folder. The file will be called subscriber_report.csv. Open your downloads folder, and rename the file to match the name of your group. Go back to your MyNewsletterBuilder account and export each group in this manner.
To export the unsubscribe/suppression list, go to "Subscribers" and click on "Unsubscribed" under the export menu. The default file name will be "subscriber_report.csv". You will probably want to rename this file to something like 'unsubscribed.csv'.
[+] Import the .csv files
To import the .csv files into the new account, log into the new account and click “Subscribers,” then select “Groups,” enter the group name next to “Add Group” and click the “Add.”. Next, go to “Subscribers” and select “Add” then locate the section that says “Upload Detailed File.” Use the upload tool to browse for and upload the .csv files that you exported in the first step. Once you have selected a file to upload, pick the appropriate subscriber group on the left side of the screen by checking the box next to the group). Click the “Upload Files” button. Please note that .csv files may take a little while to process sometimes. To check the status, click on “Reports” and select “Activity.”
[+] Unsubscribe the suppression list from the new account
To unsubscribe the emails that are in your “Unsubscribe” (suppression) csv file from the new account, you will first have to add the list as a list of new subscribers. We recommend uploading them to a disposable new group. You may wish to call it “Unsubscribed.” Once the list has finished uploading, click on “Subscribers” in the main menu and select “Remove.” On this page, select “Delete Permanently (Unsubscribe)". Select the “Unsubscribed" group and click “Remove.” You can check the status of the removal by navigating to “Reports” in the main menu, and selecting “Activity.” Once the removal is complete, you can delete the disposable group by clicking “Subscribers” on the main menu, then selecting “Groups”. Locate the disposable group and select the “Delete Group” icon on the far right of the group name. On the next page, note that the default selection, “Remove Subscribers & Delete Group” option will be selected. This is the preferred option for removing those subscribers quickly.
Best Uses
Maintaining good list hygiene is really important - and let us just say - sending to unsubscribed parties is a terrible way to break in a new account! Not to mention, it makes quite the mess to clean up. By importing a suppression list you can be sure that you are only sending to interested parties.
