Reports: Clicks
About This Feature
Clicks are found within the Reports section of MNB, available from the main navigation. This metric shows you how many links in your newsletter were clicked. This information helps show you how people interacted with your newsletter. If you were trying to get readers to buy a ticket or view your website, did you succeed? This information will help you determine that.
How to Use This Feature
To access this report feature, click on “reports” in the main menu. You will then see a listing of your sent newsletters, listed in chronological order, with the most recent at the top. For each newsletter sent, you will be able to see various metrics, including “clicks”. You can click this number to go into the Link Report. Once you are in the report, you can navigate through options using the “Actions” menu on the left side.
[+] Viewing the Link Report
The link report lists all of the links that were contained in the newsletter you are looking at. Under the URL column, you can hover over the word “view” to see the URL display at the bottom left side of your screen, or you can click the word “view” to open the link in your browser. Next to the URL column is the Title column. This lists the text that was linked. If it was an image, the title will indicate that it was an image and give you the title of the image. Next to the title column is the clicks column. This represents the number of subscribers that clicked on that link. The number in the next column is “total”. This represents the number of clicks that link received. These numbers may differ when one subscriber clicks on the same link more than once.
If you want to know who clicked on any specific link, click the number in the “clicks” column. This takes you to a list of email addresses and the amount of times that individual clicked on the link. Clicking represents interest, so it may be a good idea to follow up with people who are click-happy.
[+] Go to Summary
This takes you to a summary report for the newsletter you are currently viewing information on.
[+] Export Report
This option allows you to gather all of the email addresses of individuals who clicked on links in your newsletter and export those subscribers as a spreadsheet that can be stored on your computer and/or imported elsewhere. To do this, click “export report” in the menu at left. The report will download as a .csv file that you can organize and upload at your discretion.
Best Uses
This feature allows you to track what links are most effective in your newsletters. It also lets you see if a particular newsletter achieved its goal. As an example, if you are sending a newsletter about a sale on your website, you can see how many people clicked through to view the sale. If a lot of people clicked through to your site to see the sale, then you know you presented it well! Click reports are also a great way to segment your target audience based on interests and level of engagement. Those loyal clickers are much closer to a sale than those non-clickers.
